I thought daddy knew a bunch of stuff about this, remember? He said some people were surprised at how much he knew about viruses. So he must have known more than WHO right? Some people say that anyway. I know that FOR SURE.

Just take your L on this one, GMD.

There's videos from even at late as Jan 23rd where the head of WHO said word for word that there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission outside of China, and said that the cases of human-to-human transmission in China seemed to be limited to family groups and healthcare workers taking care of them.

1. Human to human transmission outside of China means community spread.

2. Human to human transmission in China is, well, human to human spread.

Is it wrong to love a line in a post on the internet?

I wonder, when this is all over of course, if Fox News/Conservative talk radio can be held accountable for spreading mis-information leading to the worsening of the impact of this virus.

We were hit later than most countries and we will still be the most impacted because 49% of the country wasn't getting the right information. This could be the end of the American empire.

Asked. Answered.

WHO definitely should not be preaching about slow reaction when they're putting out bad information that helped contribute to that slow reaction. This isn't a Trump thing no matter how much you want to make it into one to ignore how badly wrong you were as you were being a pretentious dick (like normal). It's just WHO not owning up to their own failings and trying to push it on others. Trump's failings are a whole different (equally bad) matter, but not EVERY topic has to be drawn back to Trump.

Maybe if someone else says it you'll understand:

No evidence of something doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Especially in the first 1-2 months of a novel virus.

To dumb it down for the Fox News audience, there is no evidence Hillary Clinton is guilty of anything even though y’all know she is guilty of everything.

If someone on here posted that WHO said the virus can't be spread from human to human and I shared that elsewhere and said that poster is saying it I would making crap up.

They said what China said. WHO "owned up" (lol) two weeks later when they said it was an epidemic.

I mean why search for "gotcha" moments when we have actual videos of the POTUS lying about it? Why shouldn't he be asked to "own up" to his failings instead of using what should be informational press conferences to attack the press? I don't think you know what a " pretentious d***" is if you're defending DJT's actions.

Quote:Trump Campaign Threatens TV Stations That Air Ad Critical Of President

Not removing the ad about rising U.S. coronavirus cases “could put your station’s license in jeopardy,” the Trump campaign warned.

Donald Trump’s reelection campaign has sent a cease-and-desist letter to TV stations that air an ad critical of the way the president has handled the coronavirus crisis.

The ad, “Exponential Threat,” features audio clips of Trump downplaying the virus at different moments while the onscreen graphic shows the rising number of cases.

“This is their new hoax,” Trump can be heard saying in the ad, which was funded by Priorities USA, a pro-Joe Biden PAC.

That quote came from a Trump rally in North Charleston, South Carolina where the president also said “Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus” before describing various Democratic “hoaxes” and assuring the crowd that “our country is doing so great.”

Other Trump quotes that appear in the ad: “We have it totally under control,” “It’s one person coming in from China,” “One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear,” “When you have 15 people, and within a couple of days it’s gonna be down to close to zero.”

At first, attorneys for America First Action, Trump’s official super PAC, were the ones who demanded that TV stations in key battleground states stop airing the anti-Trump commercial, claiming it was deceptive.

However, TV stations refused to pull the ad and Priorities USA pointed out that America First Action didn’t even have standing to make the demand, RawStory reported.

So attorneys for the Donald J. Trump for President campaign sent their own cease-and-desist letter, one that suggested that not removing the ad “could put your station’s license in jeopardy” with the Federal Communications Commission.

In the letter, which can be seen below, the attorneys accuse Priorities USA of stitching together fragments from multiple Trump speeches to “fraudulently and maliciously imply” that he called the coronavirus outbreak a “hoax.”

The attorneys claim Trump “was talking about the Democrat’s politicization of the outbreak when he used the word ‘hoax.’”
The letter claims that because the ad’s central point is “deliberately false and misleading, your station has an obligation to cease and desist from airing it immediately to comply with FCC licensing requirements, to serve the public interest, and to avoid costly and time-consuming litigation.”

The Trump campaign has asked Twitter to tag videos claiming that Trump called the virus a hoax as “manipulated media,” but, so far, the social media network hasn’t complied, according to The Hill.

Meanwhile, Priorities USA doesn’t seem too worried about the legal threats ― especially since they’ve helped the video go viral:

Quote:The coronavirus test that wasn’t: How federal health officials misled state scientists and derailed the best chance at containment

The coronavirus epidemic this week reached Beadle County, South Dakota. A single case tied to travel has exploded into 14 infections and counting, with no way to know how many were exposed while supply shortages forced the entire state to briefly suspend testing.

Confirmed cases in New York City, where hospitals have fallen into chaos as resources run thin, on Thursday surpassed Beadle’s entire population of 18,500. With too few tests for too many cases, doctors there already had been told it no longer made sense to test most ill patients.

From its biggest cities to its smallest towns, America’s chance to contain the coronavirus crisis came and went in the seven weeks since U.S. health officials botched the testing rollout and then misled scientists in state laboratories about this critical early failure. Federal regulators failed to recognize the spiraling disaster and were slow to relax the rules that prevented labs and major hospitals from advancing a backup.

Scientists around the country found themselves shackled as the disease spread.
“We were watching a tsunami and standing there frozen,” said Dr. Debra Wadford, director of the public viral disease laboratory in California, where some of the country's earliest patients were identified.

The nation’s public health pillars — the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration — shirked their responsibility to protect Americans in an emergency like this new coronavirus, USA TODAY found in interviews with dozens of scientists, public health experts and community leaders, as well as email communications between laboratories and hospitals across the country.
The result was a cascading series of failures now costing lives.

CDC leaders not only bungled their role in developing the first coronavirus test permitted in the country, they also misrepresented the efficacy of early solutions to state health authorities.

Then, public and private lab directors felt rebuffed by the FDA when they first offered to help troubleshoot the problem by developing their own tests. The agency, through its emergency authority, had placed restrictions on labs that can apply in emergencies but not in normal circumstances.

In a statement to USA Today, FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Caccomo said validating outside tests is essential in a crisis when "false results can lead to significant adverse public health consequences."

A reliable, accessible test was key to averting today’s disaster. Countries such as South Korea had already shown how such diagnostics — developed and scaled up with the help of the private sector at the onset — could be used to identify people with early infections before they spread the virus widely.

In late February, the CDC's deputy director of infectious disease projected calm in a conference call with state laboratories. The labs were told they could now send samples to the CDC and receive results within 24 hours.

“That was a bald-faced lie,” said Wadford. At that point, she was waiting four to five days on test results for samples she had sent to the CDC.

“The most disappointing part was that they couldn’t just be frank and straight with us,” said Wadford, who took detailed notes of the conference call that she dictated to USA TODAY. “Tell us the situation. Don’t sugarcoat it and lie. But to mislead us is just not right.”

The following week, President Trump tweeted: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

Since then, the U.S. has gone from 51 confirmed cases to more than 85,000, from zero deaths to over 1,200, while the economic toll of shuttering wide swaths of the country has cost millions their jobs and pummeled the stock market.

Caccomo denied that the FDA was overly restrictive at the onset of the outbreak and then slow to adapt to the "unprecedented public health emergency.”

“We recognized the urgent need for even faster testing availability, so we quickly adapted our policies to help expedite patient testing,” Caccomo said.

The agency worked with outside labs as early as Jan. 22, she said, before opening up the emergency authorization process at the end of February.

"As the emergency evolved," Caccomo added, "FDA determined that the benefits of increased testing capacity outweighed the risks associated with use of additional tests."

The time lost in February was critical to containing the outbreak and helping hospitals prepare, experts say. With each delay, the virus spread undetected as people likely unaware of an infection attended conferences and weddings, frequented bars and restaurants and took long-planned cruise vacations.

America is now paying the price. More than half of the country’s population has been ordered to stay home to slow the spread. Doctors are rationing supplies. Like New York City, communities have limited testing because the outbreak has grown so large that hospitals must instead target the most vulnerable.

Freedom of speech!

...means Alex Jones is totally safe, but showing clips of Trump saying things is unacceptable.

Of course I'd expect anyone who celebrates all freedom of speech fighters from Rush to Sean to be utterly outraged about that particular attempt to undercut the principle.

But is anyone surprised?

Not the first time Trump (or his people) have said such a thing.

But "it's just Trump being Trump" or "Trump as a right to defend himself" or "the lamestream media makes up fake news" or, or or....

A rogue douchebag who is doing this only because he can. Absolutely no reason for this stunt. He will be lucky if he lives past today because this will draw serious hate from people regardless of party affiliation.

Yeah and I assume we pay to get all the Reps back to Washington.  Assface.

It should be political suicide if he actually does hold up the vote, as the RNC should be telling him that if he does do so they will cut off all future funding and support for his future elections, and will back his Rep. opponents. Well, they should. Then on top of that, I would hope the voters in his district will vote him out regardless.

I mean there will be a lot of waste in this emergency bill, I dont think anyone will argue that. But it is far more important to pass it with that waste, than try to make a political stand against.

edit: apparently he already signaled that he will, forcing congress to convene to pass it.

John Kerry, former secretary of state and former Democratic senator, also attacked Massie on Twitter, saying the congressman "tested positive for being an asshole" and that he must be "quarantined to prevent the spread of his massive stupidity."

That's pretty good from Kerry to be honest.

But whats strange is that this guy isn't dumb, as he apparently was 'MIT trained' for robotic engineering. One would think someone with that level of smarts wouldn't be such an idiot at a time like this.

Hopefully robots don't vote in his district.
