maybe they have been.  Sometimes negotiations take time.  Sometimes players like to weigh all of their options first.  Remember leaks come from the players and agents right now not the teams, at least in the case of the Bengals, who are notoriously closed mouthed/

I would be good with that.

How do you think the Bengals heard of him? That counted as their scouting.

Why should anyone be guaranteed to be paid when they are no longer on a team?   Also, you can limp and hobble the rest of your life as a construction worker or many other manual type jobs.   The NFL doesnt have a monopoly on jobs that can leave you body wrecked.  These guys get paid a great deal of money to do it and know what the consequences are.  Dont complain about it when you choose to do it.

Supply and demand determines compensation.

He isn't really a NT. Reader weighs like 30 pounds more than Tart.

Rankins gives us the 3T we lacked since Og left. We obviously need a NT.

Well, that is something. If it is a Tupou/Carter/Tufele upgrade, then it makes me happy.

If it supposed to be a Reader replacement, then I am not happy.

And I fear it is the latter.

Rankins PFF the last 4: 64.2, 73.1, 46.1, 57.8.

I think the plan is Rankins and Hill are our 3Ts, so we'll have a decent rotation again.

Yes, I wasn't happy at all with Zach Carter. This is another big time upgrade with Sheldon Rankins.

Both of these guys can stop the run but Rankins is probably the better overall pass rusher and run stopper and I love BJ Hill.

Bring back DJ Reader though please. Tart is not the answer, he is another 3-tech.

Right.  This goes back to the Ogunjobi/Hill rotation we used to get us to the Super Bowl.  We still need a NT.  Lets get Reader signed next.

yes, Rankins wasn't rated very high as a free agent DT, especially against the run (PFF 54.1). But now some of the pressure is off. He's 30, so the Bengals can still upgrade the position in the draft. Arik Armstead would be much better in the run game  and is better overall. But at least the Bengals got someone. They may not even have had a shot at Armstead or he was too expensive.

Was never happy with that Carter pick. Another one drafted way to soon like Jackson Carman.

He is lighter but Tart is a NT, he has played a ton of 2 gap over center and in the 1 hole.  He was the Titans starting NT.
