It doesn't stop me from watching an actor's work, but I will disagree with their public statements. (Not that she has made any one way or the other...just a generic statement of how I deal with their politics.)
So I'm guessing that you have her album right? Since you were already well aware of who she was?

I am well aware of her as she is a Pittsburgh product. But not my kind of music so I don't own any of her albums. Nor do I want to. Whether she performs for Trump or not.
Heck, I can't remember the last time I bought a christmas album! LOL!

I would assume most artists would do a great many things to get their music out to a larger crowd. Dogging the young lady for this seems like sour grapes on a number of levels.
The message I'm being sold in the OP is that this young lady has more talent BECAUSE she is able to sell more albums BECAUSE she appeals to a certain political demographic BECAUSE she is willing to sing at President Trump's inauguration. You don't see any flaws in that logic? Does selling more albums mean someone has more talent than other musicians? If you believe that, how can you explain Miley Cirus or Justin Beiber? In fact, I'm pretty certain musical talent has little to do with album sales anymore. Personally, I don't think that is a good thing.
Obviously, this young lady is "playing the game" she needs to play to get attention and pursue her goals: the same game Miley plays (although I'm sure she has more talent than Miley). But I'll stick to my personal preference: I'd much rather people buy my work because it is good and not because of any political affiliation.

This thread is a good microcosm of the political discourse in America today.
I am as bad as anyone here when I get involved, but just step back and look at how worked up people are getting over the entertainment at the inauguration.

Hmm, good for her. If you want to call this a victory for the right wing I'd suggest you not bother to see the album sales of the bands that publicly refused to perform at the Trump rally, though. Maybe Trump will drop a nuke on a vinyl pressing of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" in retaliation or something.

The main thing that I wanted to point out, by posting that article, is the line about Trump detractors criticizing the young lady and telling her that it could ruin her career. And, after all of the "celebrities" that stated absurd things like they would leave the Country, etc., and then failing to live up to their words, I think it a bit trite that they attempt to bully a young girl for accepting to sing the Nation Anthem at the Presidential Inauguration.
All of the other arguments, tangents, and deflections are just typical P&R forum fluff..

Again, one Christmas album having healthy sales in December does not a career make. I hope that 16 year old girl laughs all the way to the bank, but acting like this is some blow to the left-wing entertainment machine while a gay Brit who has sold 300 million albums says "No" to Trump is, well...it's a short-term victory. Anywho, I recall a lot of liberal d-bag musicians playing a 9/11 benefit or two, so maybe there are more important things to consider when deciding how an artist's loyalties should be perceived.
Also, Trump and his cronies are WAY too into under-aged girls. Just a side note, there.

And it was one line. Not even with a quote from someone, anyone. Or a link to such stories.
That's a long way to go for you to make a "point".
Heck you could probably have found an ACTUAL article of someone ACTUALLY saying those things and it would have made your point.
I'd like to add, since you brought it up, threatening to leave the country if something happens is not exclusive to one side of the political aisle. In fact I've encouraged Texas to follow through and secede for years now.

When I think of politics and musicians I think of artists like John Fogerty who refuse to let right-wing politician use their songs and/or Toby Keith being a registered Democrat while he sold every good ol' boy redneck a bunch of feel-good jingoistic nonsense set to music.

Keep the faith! That is the same sort of arrogant bravado that cost the Democrat Party what should have been, for all intents and purposes, an in the bag election.

You're right...I think the founding fathers wanted the sales of christmas albums to count for more because of "real america" or something, so let's just put this girl's christmas album right up there with Thriller or Sgt Pepper and declare it the best album ever.

Ahahahaha! You're still avoiding the point. I'm not claiming that she is some great talent, though my 16 y/o stepdaughter thinks she's pretty cool, or will have anywhere near the commercial success of any of the pop icons. The point is, and still remains, why would Trump detractors choose to bully a teenage girl?

However, your response suggests she is not good; as you suggest you would rather sell music by being good as opposed to the route she is taking.
Is the girl any good? I have no idea, but I'm not winning to say no simply because she has been invited to sing at the Inogiration. Seems more like something bitter ols men would do.
BTW Justin Beiber is very talented. Not my type of music, but that is beside the point.

Who bullied her? Who are the Trump detractors? I didn't read the article, I just commented because I find the metrics by which people are declaring this a great move or a career-killer to be amusingly biased.
I assume liberals on a message board said this would kill her career and then a bunch of neo-cons bought her christmas album, spun it 0-1 times and then put it in the back of the closet. This is truly riveting stuff indeed. Actually, I think the only reason I even commented was because you were so eager to declare this a victory AND you cited the political affiliation of the supposed detractors in the title itself.

Now Nately, that's not very PC of you, to refer to a World entertainment icon solely based on his sexual identity. You're beginning to let your inner Hillary show through...

Your weak and meager attempt to reduce the impact of the words of that single sentence, only go to prove the hypocrisy of the current Liberal people.
