I think the real lesson is Hispanics differ in the sense that Cubans and Mexican are um...different? That's my main takeaway.

The talk was that those from South America in Florida were swayed by the "Socialist" narrative because of where they fled from. In comparison, they talk about the PA exit polling with Hispanics who are more Dominican and Puerto Rican being like a 75-25 split for Biden.

Hispanic vote was interesting. Dems failed in their message in Florida but it seemed to work in Arizona.

I think we can stop talking about court packing, DC/PR statehood, and the Green New Deal.....

Yeah, as mentioned a few posts above Cubans and Mexicans respond to different political triggers. I can see why Cubans would see Trump as a beacon of capitalism compared to Biden, though Trump is mostly proof that if you are born in America and born rich you can be rich. Still, Biden being less of a socialist than Bernie didn't win them over, I guess.

I think the Dems can thank Cindy McCain for Arizona.

FiveThirtyEight was big on stressing that Latinos cannot be viewed as a monolith. Florida Cuban Americans and Arizona Mexican Americans have very different demographics, voting patterns, values, etc.

FL seemed close and then it hit me that Trump pulled his money out of ads there 2 weeks early because he knew he had it sewn up. Well, maybe...who the hell knows.

What's so special about them?
So, PA doesn’t start counting any ballots until Election Day. They had around 2.5 million mail-in ballots already sent in that they weren’t able to start counting until yesterday, plus voter turnout. They are also going to accept mail-in ballots until Friday, but those ballots have to have a postmark of Tuesday, at the latest.

AZ going blue is all about idiots who fled CA and then voted for the policies that caused them to flee CA.

I agree. I wonder if we are going to see future pollsters try to break the data down even further from Hispanic to “Mexican/Colombian/Cuban etc.” depending on the trends that we see in this election. For instance, there was talk of Texas being in play for Biden and the “inevitability” of Texas going blue in the near future. While that is still possible, it may not be as likely as many people thought, depending on how the Hispanic vote turns out there.

I've said this several times in the past. The idea that demographics mean the inevitable demise of the GOP is as wrong as it gets. I'm fully aware that this is anecdotal and limited in scope, but I work in an office that is ~95% Hispanic and they overwhelmingly support Trump. Imagine the GOP putting forth a more mainstream candidate and that spells trouble for the Dems going forward. Hispanics are, speaking generally, much more culturally conservative than many people think.

Wisconsin has the same state law preventing counting mail ballots early.

That's what CNN was harping on the whole night lol, "AZ. The Phoenix-area specifically. Largest-growing city in America. Lot's of African-Americans. Change."
King must've said that (in that order too), like 5 times in an hour

Any ethnicity/background that's Latin-based, is like that (Italians are beyond-conservative, making my family an outlier and a half).

I bought a home in Orange County for ~500K. It's a nice house, but that money would get me an enormous place in AZ. The home/rent costs in CA coupled with being taxed up the ass is resulting in a mass exodus from the state, often times by necessity. The head scratcher, for me, is voting the same way that caused you to flee CA in the first place. I can totally understand not voting for Trump, bot voting straight Dem when the Dems caused you to flee your home state is baffling.

Hell if I know...if the American political system didn't have people stupidly voting against their best interests what would it have?
HOT TAKE - CA folks have noticed how many millions of extra votes they waste in a winner take all state and are trying to stretch out in order to turn multiple states blue.
