I find it interesting that the German government is in favor of this sort of thing, because I don't think the people would be. The German people want their military to defend their country, nothing else. They aren't happy with the fact they sent German troops to the middle east. A part of me feels like this is the politicians in Germany trying to find a way to have Germany more involved in global conflicts without pissing off the populous quite as much.
