The fact is that when you wear a MAGA hat you are telling everyone that you support Trump.  Since Trump is well known for being aggressively insulting and promoting violence then you are going to be judged for supporting that type of behavior.  You should not be assaulted, but you should be subject to scorn

The echo chamber didn't say blowback, you did. Scorn all you want. You're ok with someone getting assaulted (physically, verbally, fredly...) because they choose to wear a hat supporting their duly elected President.
