Jim Jones is a good, if hyperbolic in this case, example. He instilled his followers with the fear that "they" were coming and the only way out was death.
Trump tried to tell everyone this was nothing and would be over in a few days...then he had to admit it was bad...then he started worrying about re-election and started with his "cure" talk. Scared people listened and did something stupid.
He's not to "blame" for their doing that and one person dying. He's to blame for being an idiot who says things that can get people killed.
Jim Jones is an extreme example, but you have to admit he and Trump are both really good at targeting struggling people and convincing them he is the answer and anyone who tells them otherwise is a jealous liar.
I'd say the biggest knock against Trump in this situation is that only two people did this...his influence on people must be slipping because I'm sure Obama could get more of his followers to do dangerous things.
