All the talk about who owns stock is fine. There difference is how much is owned. When old grand dad has 5 shares of P&G stock he is a shareholder. That doesnt put him on equal footing with a hedge fund manager who is shorting 100,000 shares a few times a week and has the funds to manipulate the market.
