You people have forgotten the overwhelming support and mandate Obama had coming into office, with so many people full of hope and optimism. 67% approved, 13% disapproved when he took office. By the start of June, he still stood at 62-31.
For comparison, Bill Clinton was 58% approve, 20% disapprove when he took office. By June he was upside down at 37-49. George W entered at 57-25, and by June was at 55-35.
So Obama entered office with considerably higher approval margin than either Clinton or Bush, and by June was still considerably more favorable than either. His policies and actions, not the color of his skin, would become his issue.
