Is that where we are right now? Privileged people taking advantage of tools put in place to help the disadvantaged? I mean, really? In all of the "family lore" that she was told about growing up, just how much of an effort did her family ever make to connect with those Native American roots? Did they ever take a vacation to tribal lands? Did they ever attend a ceremonial Pow Wow? Did they really even acknowledge that they had any Native ancestry, before they saw an advantage to admitting it?
My buddy that's half has tried to get me to go.

My ancestor didn't have a birth certificate.
The only documentation was a marriage certificate.
