I was thinking about this during the wages and cost of living thread discussion.  The Simpsons are supposed to be a Roseanne-style anti-Cosby Show lower class family, but the idea that a guy who has no education and no trade skills could have such a lifestyle has become more like a joke on how overpriveledged and opulent our country is.
