And though the words are not legible as a whole, I am pretty confident my reading and translation is correct. You need a capsule that is inserted first for the big boom.

Actually, I do know a little about them. And a little German too. Notice the detonator (Sprengkapsule) is way up in the head. No way you would insert any "capsule" before use in the field. You would have to unscrew the head.  These are made to be yanked out of a boot and thrown right away. No monkeying with detonators.


Some have a little porcelain ball on the end of the string instead of a ring. Just pull that and throw. Your "Sprengkapsel" is already inserted, probably before shipment to the front.
