Sunset, I don't think "retaliate" is the right term. "Respond" would be more accurate.

You are a moderator, yes? I hope you are not suggesting that we don't respond to posts and memes.

Or that questions, challenges or "refutations" of memes should be ipso facto construed as personal attacks.

Sometimes people posts memes with incorrect or false information. Right?  Surely you are not saying the forum is in danger unless people just let disinformation slide? 

My understanding so far is that we are not supposed to launch personal attacks on other posters--

NOT that we shouldn't critique political views and politicians at all.
