Side note, I had my yearly watching of this movie and as 2020 comes to a close it's bitterly amusing to wonder how we are supposed to look at this guy who has a giant house in a Chicago suburb and feel badly for him when he doesn't get a holiday bonus he came to expect as granted so he could put in a swimming pool.

Looking now at stuff like this, the Simpsons, or even Roseanne and realizing that is what was written as the life and living situations the "sad sack lovable losers" of TV land is quite the kick in the arse!
