It’s the FLU! No one wants to get the flu, whether is influenza A-B-or C. It’s deadly to old folks and immuno-compromised people. This is nothing new. The flu is deadly. Why are we freaking out this much? Shutting down EVERYTHING.....it’s not going to stop someone from going to get the flu. It’s just going to prolong this. Businesses are going to go out of business because of this fear. Flu season comes every year. People die from the flu every year. A, B or now we have C. I don’t get this fear. The fear itself is worse than the actual flu. Sorry for my ramblings but people need to start hearing some common sense in this effed up times. And QUIT buying toilet paper for an upper respiratory virus.
It’s not the flu. Although it can cause flu like symptoms and the same complications of the flu. So I understand why you recognize they are similar. But, there are important differences.
It is a new strain of coronavirus that apparently mutated in bats and spread to humans.
No human has immunity to this virus and there isn’t a vaccine. Care for viral infections is supportive. There isn’t a medication you can be prescribed to make it go away or “cure” it. Once you’re infected you’re own immune system must combat it.
With a new virus like this we don’t know how bad it could be and we are currently still learning. It could be like the seasonal flu. It could be like the Spanish flu of 1812. Or it could be World War Z. We don’t know at the beginning of any novel virus.
Social distancing is proven to slow the spread of infection which is important at the beginning with a novel virus. If we don’t do it early the infection could become so prevalent it won’t make a difference later. The only question really is when to implement it. After 100 deaths? After 1000 deaths? After 10,000? So it’s better to err on the side of caution.
