Last week the governor of Texas announced part of a plan to reopen the state’s businesses.

Wow. 3000 test a day at every Walgreens in Texas every day! Since there are only 1,440 minutes in every day, they will need to swab 1 person every 30 seconds 24 hours a day nonstop which ain’t happening.
And then there is this . . .

Wow. 50,000 test produced a day. If we divide that by 50 states that’s a 1,000 tests per states assuming every state gets an equal share (which they won’t.)
Now you’re asking, “Hmm, I wonder how many Walgreens stores are in Texas?”

So 1000 tests divided by 704 locations means each Walgreens in Texas can complete 1.42 tests per day. That’s slightly less than 3,000/day. And if Texas were somehow able to secure the entire inventory of 50,000 kits/day then every Walgreens in Texas could complete 71 tests/day which is still slightly less than 3,000 tests/day. And because the ID One test platform only runs one sample at a time and each test takes up to 13 minutes every Walgreens in Texas needs to be open almost 16 hours everyday just to do the 71 test/day. But, they aren’t open that long so they won’t be able to perform 71 tests/day even if they bought every test produced.
So my question is this: is the governor of Texas a liar, an idiot, or does he think you’re a bunch of idiots?

On Wednesday, the governor announced that Walgreens locations would soon offer a test that can be administered via the drive-thru window, and will provide results within 15 minutes. Abbott estimates that each Walgreens store could test as many as 3,000 people a day.
