I think that honesty up front, and not hidden in complicated fine print legalese, on ALL loans and revolving debt allows the consumer to make better decisions.
There was an awful lot of deception going on by lenders on student loans as to the actual costs of repayment and the penalties involved if payments are missed. Many student loans recipients aren't sophisticated borrowers so may not have been aware of the traps involved in the loans
