House Speaker Ongoing Melodrama

We are #1 in the world in private donations to charitable causes, #1 in the world in non-debt-trap aid for development assistance, and we spend about $51b per year in foreign aid as a government.

Eh, the private donations thing could be because of churches being counted amongst that and our extremely high number of churches in this country. They do make up the largest chunk of charitable donations after all at about 27% in 2022. It's also important to keep in mind that many of the things that rely on charitable contributions in this country are handled through the state in other countries. So in many countries there isn't as much need to charity as there is here. It's a double-edged sword.
