Incredibly stupid rule. Feet first? Sure. Down where you hit the ground. Head first and you’re trying to gain yards and shouldn’t be down until touched.

BS. If that was the case, every other receiver would be looking for someone to block, not running a route beyond the line of scrimmage.

Agree 100%.

And basically it gives bonus protections to the running QB, as he can begin to dive just before he gets hit, so contact at that point would have to be classified as unneccessary roughness as he had technically given himself up.
