All-Bengals team just from the Lewis era.

Pick an all-star Bengals team among the players who have played for Marvin.

**Note** while I consider Dillon the best RB in Bengal history, he didn't produce very well his only year under Marvin. So I will not be including him on my team, but you can do whatever you want.

You can only pick the same player once. So you can't have Whit at both LG and LT.

On offense pick 2 TEs, 2 RB, a FB, and 3 WR (one of which had to play a significant amount in the slot)

Pick both a punt returner and a kick returner.

On defense pick 3 CB (in order)

LBs have to be specific position (WOLB, MLB, SOLB)

Safeties can be interchangeable.

Everything else is pretty much straight forward.

The title says it all. If you aren't comfortable disclosing your education then by all means leave that out. We will assume it's elementary school. :) We used to do these on the old forum and i found them interesting so why not here?

  Beating Oakland

Maybe a bit early, but our first opponent is Oakland. What's the secret to beating them? (The Bengals have never beaten them in Oakland)

  Most Overpaid NFL Players

Yea, we didn't land any big time new free agents and we didn't extend everyone as early as some wanted, but at least we are not on this list ...

  Rest In Peace, John Sawyer

Bengals primary owner and president from 1967 to 1993. He and his friend Bill Hackett worked hard to convince Paul Brown to be the head coach and GM and help start a team in Cincinnati. ....So he was the primary owner in 2 Super Bowl Trips, 2 AFC Championships, 7 Play-Off Seasons. He brought Cincinnati into the AFL and was owner when Cincinnati became part of the NFL. .....After Paul Brown died in 1991, he sold his primary ownership to Mike Brown and The Brown Family in 1993. The Bengals would get really bad for a decade becoming The Bungles. The owner that brought Pro Football to Cincinnati had mostly success from 1967 to 1993. ......Rest In Peace, John Sawyer. Thanks for bringing AFL and NFL Football to Cincinnati for the fans from 1968 to 2015.

Gil Brandt ranks the "Super Bowl-less" teams
Posted by: Shake n Blake - 07-10-2015, 12:20 AM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (63)

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000500272/article/cardinals-bengals-headline-teams-vying-for-first-super-bowl-title

He ranks the Bengals as having the 2nd best odds of winning it all (out of all the ring-less teams).

1) Arizona Cardinals
Last season, Carson Palmer was limited to just six games by a shoulder issue and torn ACL -- and the Cardinals still won 11, making the playoffs for the first time since 2009. With Palmer healthy and ready for 2015, the Cards have the best shot of the bunch to break into the winners' circle. Another factor working in Arizona's favor: the presence of Bruce Arians, who is so good, he might be one of the most underrated coaches in the league even after winning the Coach of the Year award for the second time in three seasons.

2) Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals are probably the deepest of the teams on this list. Cincinnati's offense, led by receiver A.J. Green and back Jeremy Hill, will be boosted by healthy returns from Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert, while former Bengal Michael Johnson rejoined the talented defense after a year in Tampa Bay. This squad features a lot of good, young players -- including quarterback Andy Dalton, who, yes, I think is capable of winning a playoff game, his 0-4 lifetime record notwithstanding. The AFC North is tough, but coach Marvin Lewis can get Cincinnati, which should be competitive for a while, over the postseason hump.

AJ Says He Can Wait For New Contract
Posted by: BFritz21 - 07-09-2015, 06:11 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (27)

AJ says he can wait until after this year for a new contract.

AJ says that he's in no rush for a new contract and that he won't let the race for a new contract of other NFL receivers- Dez, Demaryius, Julio- have any impact on his contract:

Quote:Green said that all the receivers hunting for long-term deals are different people on different teams, leaving him with the feeling that their deals won’t “say anything about me.” Instead, Green is spending his time focused on football and believes his “body of work will speak for itself.”

I love it and it's a sign that we have a high character guy that is all about football and is a class act.

You never hear a receiver talk like he's not here for the money, but that's exactly how AJ sounds and what he pretty much said:

Quote:“I don’t get into all the ‘I need a contract stuff,'” Green said at his football camp in Ohio on Thursday, via ESPN.com. “I’m not here for money. I’m not broke. So I’m fine. I can wait until the end of the year to get a contract, but I know that time is coming.”

Running a football camp in Ohio also is a good sign because, to me, it says he likes being here. If he didn't, he would run the camp back home in South Carolina or in Georgia where he went to college.

The dude will be making millions of dollars, so he knows that that will be enough.

I'm sure some people will say "oh, he's just saying that and he wants to wait until next season because he knows that the other receivers will set the pay-bar and he'll get the most because he's last," but that risks a bad year and making less, plus the injury risk, and AJ's not a diva like other receivers.

He'll end up with a big deal, but AJ being focused on his life and football, but not his contract, makes me love him even more.

We have a hell of a guy on our team!

  Rate the Position
Posted by: bfine32 - 07-09-2015, 02:25 PM - Forum: JUNGLE NOISE - Replies (18)

Your boy bfine works hard during the “dead period” to keep the boards interesting and a place folks like to visit (Just completed All-Board team). So around this time of year. I’ve always said bump the experts and the Message Board will rate our own team by position compared to the rest of the NFL (SIRIUS NFL is currently doing a series).

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to link previous year’s results, as I have done in the past. So we will have to start anew. One of the complaints (there is always folks that do) is that we cannot do this until TC rolls around. Believe me the other media sources are doing it during this time of year and when TC rolls around there will be a thousand other things to talk about.

WTS, I am going to submit a proposed Depth chart (ESPN. I did adjust the #2 TE). If there are any huge discrepancies feel free to voice your opinion here and we will iron it out before we start the process. We are only doing starters or guys used in heavy rotation (RB, 3rd WR, 2nd TE, Nickleback).

QB- ANDY DALTON
RB- JEREMY HILL/ GIO BERNARD
FB- RYAN HEWITT
WR- AJ GREEN, MARVIN JONES, MO SANU
TE- TYLER EIFERT, TYLER KROFT
C- RUSSELL BODINE
OG- KEVIN ZEITLER, CLINT BOLING
OT- ANDREW WHITWORTH, ANDRE SMITH
DE- CARLOS DUNLAP, MICHAEL JOHNSON
DT- GENO ATKINS, DOMATA PEKO
LBs- VONTAZE BURFICT, REY MAUALUGA, MANNY LAMUR
CBs- DRE KIRKPATRICK, ADAM JONES, LEON HALL
S- REGGIE NELSON, GEORGE ILOKA

Hopefully we can start with the QB this weekend. That should generate some “discussion”.
