With McLaughlin set to make his preseason debut against Washington, are they rushing him back too soon like they did All?
I felt like All was thrown out there in camp a little soon with his injury history coming in and I fear they may be rushing McLaughlin back too soon too.
Is the depth that bad? Or is he that good?
I thought he was a strong candidate to stash on ir but they are set to have to make a rooster decision on him.
They did a running back dirty like that too early in Zac’s career so this is a thing. The running back from Oklahoma I think.

Remember back in the 2010 season when everyone was absolutely jacked about the Bengals? We picked up TO in the offseason and coming off a bitter loss against the Jets but thinking this upcoming year is going to put the pieces together for us finally.
Then the preseason started and the team looked absolutely awful and the excuse over and over was "We are playing vanilla, we dont want to show our playbook" And when the season started it was the Great Shitshow we are too often used too.
Well after watching this defense last week, all I thought was its the Great Shitshow all over again with this group of defensive players. The only difference..and a big one is we have Burrow and Chase that are the best in their category. Is ownership going to waste another year of their talent with a completely inept defense? I didnt see anything positive when watching the 1st team defense get smoked by a second team offense in Philly..
This defensive team just has to be average and with our offense we can go far...but if they cant even muster that underachieving objective, its gonna be another long season watching us lose games that score 41-38...

It is that time of year when all the "experts" put together their lists. Both The Athletic and ESPN published their QB ratings today.
The Athletic interviewed 50 people at all levels of team mgmt from coordinators to GMs and asked them to rank the QBs based on tiers.
Joe was one of the only 2 QBs ranked unanimously in Tier 1. Mahomes was the other. They were joined in the tier by Jackson, Stafford, and Allen, though these guys weren't unanimous
Quote:This is Burrow's fourth consecutive season in Tier 1 and his first as a unanimous top-tier selection. Rodgers (six), Mahomes (five), Tom Brady (four) and Russell Wilson (one) are the only other unanimous Tier 1 selections in the survey's history.
"He is the closest thing to Joe Montana that I have seen," a head coach said. "That is about as big a compliment I can give you as a quarterback."
One difference: Montana's San Francisco 49ers led the NFL in fewest points allowed during the 1980s, while Burrow's Cincinnati Bengals ranked 25th last season.
"To me, it's Mahomes and then Burrow if I had to rank them," a veteran offensive coach said. "Burrow could be a 1 with a red cross on him. They don't protect him, and he gets the s--- knocked out of him constantly."
Burrow played all 17 games last season, leading the NFL in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns.
"He's a stud, particularly with those freaks he has out there at receiver," a defensive coach said. "I respect the arm talent, don't get me wrong, but you have to be able to fool him presnap, and you have to be able to rush with four and get there."
ESPN's Dan Orlovsky ranked individual skills
Joe ranked #1 in Ball Placement, Accuracy, Mechanics, decision making, and pocket presence
He ranked 7 in arm strength and 2nd reaction ability.
and he wasn't ranked for rushing ability.
Personally, I think his rushing ability is underrated. He almost always gets positve yardage when he runs. Same thing for 2nd reaction ability. Everyone ahead of him was a running QB. Joe looks to make a play downfield when they put the ball down and run it.

Dehner was on NFL radio earlier with Ed McCraffrey talkin Bengals. McCaffrey asked Dehner about any UFDA's that were surprising in camp. Denhner mentioned DT Howard Cross, and McCraffrey then said that's who he was wondering about because his father was his teammate. Anyway, Dehner said Cross has done well enough he's getting reps with the 2nd team. I'd say he'll never make the roster at DT, but Practice Squad seems reasonable. He played at Notre Dame last year for Golden, who wanted him. Anyone see him in camp???

A tale of two DE's |

I'm driving down to Adair County this morning for an investigation, and I'm listening to Bob Papa on "Airing it Out" on NFL radio. They are discussing Micah Parsons and the Cowboys. After months of listening to them excoriate the Bengals over the Trey Hendrickson saga, they say the Cowboys are playing it smart. That Parsons is not a free agent, is still under contract to make 22 million this year (The Bengals offered Trey 28), and they have the option to franchise tag Parsons twice. The Cowboys will not trade Parsons. Two DE's, both holding in, both under contract, neither will be traded, yet the Bengals are buffoons and the Cowboys are smart. They mentioned that Watt and Crosby got their deals done, but there was no mention of Trey at all. It's just simply amazing.
