Not Falling Down |

Improvements on the offensive line might be as simple as not falling down when their hands get wiped away. At least improving that is a main focus of new OL Coach Scott Peters
behind a paywall
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6394791/2025/06/02/bengals-offensive-line-reset-scott-peters/
One of their new drills is simply standing leaning into a partner with their arm extended into his partner's chest. The ultimate goal is for that arm to stay there when yanked, tugged, pulled, etc. In lieu of that simply staying on their feet, which as we know was major failure last season, will allow them to reengage. This drill works on core strength, posture, feet position.
Ted Karras after 10 seasons says he is learning new stuff every day
Building techniques from the fundamentals on up is why they hired Scott Peters
Quote:It’s not easy to start from zero,” Peters said. “Some of the techniques are new, it’s not just go out there and throw your hands out there. It’s how you do it, from what platform, from what foundation your body operates from so your strikes are impactful and you are doing it without having to compromise posture. Guys will throw heavy hands and get beat and wiped and stuff. It is teaching them a foundation of how you throw a proper strike. You throw a proper strike and do it with good mechanics and ramp up the speed it looks like you have more pop in your hands, you have more length, you can play with better posture so if they did wipe your hands or knock you hands down you wont’ be staggering forward and get beat.”
“The first thing is making the guys aware that the things are possible that we do,” Peters said. “And teaching them how to move and the mechanics, because you are not going full speed. You have to teach them the mechanics of how to move, the tools and all the components. Then, as we go forward, you just apply this particular technique.”
Orlando Brown describes Peters as a "breath of fresh air"
I see a lot of indictment of Frank Pollock in Volson's comments
Quote:“Scott is a really open guy,” said Volson, who accepted a pay cut rather than a release because he says he believed in what Peters could do for his career after being benched last season. “You can bounce ideas off him and ask him questions. We can play more toward our skill set. He instills a lot of confidence in us. I think he brings a good energy. We enjoy talking to him. We enjoy going into meetings with him. I think that’s really cool. It definitely makes my day way more enjoyable, that’s for sure.”

A good running back screen.
We used to at least run a good TE one …. Or maybe that was under Marvin
Anything but the wr screen. We got to put our energy into hoping they throw those plays out for a more conventional screen game.
I can see Chase being more than capable of explosive plays from screens.

The Trey saga continues. I was originally trying to undertand and accept Trey's reasons for a reasonabe contract. No more, I personally think his going public was a childish move and will hurt his chances to get a new deal....from the Bengals and maybe anyone as Bengals are stubborn when players and agents have tried to strong arm them.
This poll is not what about you hope happens. This poll is to pick a side to get the temperature as of almost June 2025 on how they fans view the 2 sides.

J Chase Thinks Starters Need To Play More In The Preseason |

Ja'Marr thinks that the starters need to play more in the preseason to avoid a slow start, which it's kind of hard to argue against that logic when you look at the fact that we've gone 1-11 in the first two weeks under Zac and 4-13-1 through the first three weeks, which the only year we had a winning record was the year that we went to the Super Bowl.
Last season, we lost to a bad Pats team at home in the opener, KC in another close one in week 2, and then another close one to the Redskins at home in week 3, which we make the playoffs if we win two of those games, and maybe even just one depending on how the tiebreaker scenarios played out.
The flip-side of the coin is that players can get injured, but that's every game and I think that we need to get our players more meaningful snaps in the preseason to get them used to going full speed and facing competition that's different than their teammates.
Being ready to play from the opening whistle this year will be very important because we go on the road to Cleveland, who should be pretty bad, but it's a division game and we've lost the last three against them and four of the last five.
Then we play the Jags at home, which they should be pretty bad, so we need to not take them lightly and just come out and destroy them in The Jungle.
Going to Minnesota in week 3 will be a tough game and we'll need momentum and it will be big if we can be 2-0 going into that game filing on all cylinders.
Week 4 is a Monday night game in Denver, which they won't be a pushover and they have a tough secondary, which is obviously good for them against us. We need to score early, establish the run, and keep the crowd out of it.
Week 5 is a very tough game against the Lions in The Jungle, which we'll obviously also need to be on our A game.
Hopefully starts playing in the preseason helps us get off to a fast start and gives us momentum going into the rest of the season.
Ideally, I'd love to see us 5-0, and even 4-1 would be nice, but I think we have to at least be 3-2 after the first five.
Here's pieces of the article:
Quote:The Cincinnati Bengals' perennial slow start has become a glaring issue, forcing them to burrow out of early-season holes. In the past two years, they've failed, finishing 9-8 and missing the postseason in back-to-back campaigns.
"It sounds like we need to play in the preseason, huh?" receiver Ja'Marr Chase said on Tuesday, via the Associated Press.
The Bengals have traditionally not played their key players much in the preseason under Taylor. It's something that he's admitted could change as Cincinnati attempts to avoid a seventh consecutive slow start.
"The one thing I do feel good about is playing our guys in the preseason," Taylor said last week, via ESPN. "That's always subject to change, depending on health and how things go with our team during training camp, but that's one thing that we've openly talked about with our players, and I think will help us as we do it."
The preseason is a delicate balance of getting stars reps while avoiding injuries that could completely crater a season. How many snaps for the likes of Joe Burrow, Chase and Tee Higgins are enough to jumpstart their chemistry heading into the season? There is no correct answer, but Taylor seems ready to make it a non-zero figure.
I'm pumped that the players want to play more in the preseason so they'll be ready to come out firing!

And fluff pieces by Hobson about him or any inside knowledge?
At his absolute best i think he can challenge Yoshi for WR3.
But with Yoshi saying he’s faster i think we’ll see more deep shots his way this year so where would that put Burton who right now is a deep shot specialist? He needs to work on that route tree to beat out Yoshi or at least entice Zac to create packages for him. He could really be our Chris Henry

Simple quick question I’ve been curious about. Would you take a chance on Chubb. He’s back to squating freaking 600lbs.
