Season-long statistics have a weaker predictive value in football than they do for just about every other professional sport, specifically because the season is much shorter. You can fit 10 NFL seasons into one MLB campaign with a couple of games to spare. The 16-game schedule means we learn less about the true talent level of each team in football than we do in other sports.
The good news is that we can turn that lack of information into a positive. Because 16 games just aren’t enough to learn much about a team, we can usually safely say that teams that exhibit some extreme characteristic or have some event occur a freakishly high (or low) amount of the time will not have that same experience over the next 16 games.
In every sport I’ve ever examined, the difference between the number of points a team scores and the points it allows is a better indicator of its future win-loss record than its actual win-loss record over that same time span. Pro football is no exception. whereresearch by Daryl Morey (yes, the same Daryl Morey who is very sad about last night’s Rockets game) found that a variant of Bill James’s Pythagorean Expectation formula can estimate what each team’s win-loss record “should” have been, given their points scored and allowed.
(can't cut and paste the chart, but it shows that in 2014 the Bengals won 1.9 games more than they should have based on point differential. That was second highest in the league)
Point differential isn’t exactly complex, but it’s even easier to count up a team’s wins and losses in games decided by seven points or fewer and see whether they were able to produce a similar record the following year. The vast, vast majority of teams win neither a particularly high nor a particularly low percentage of their close games on an annual basis. Most of the differences between teams comes in what they do in the other games, the ones that are decided by two scores or more.
(again I can't cut and paste the chart, but the Bengals were also second best in the league last year in games decided by 7 points or fewer going 3-0-1)
Basically what this article is saying is that the Bengals were not as good as their record last year and are likely to regress toward the mean in 2015. It is an interesting read. I just posted a very small portion of it.

Dalton and the Read |

Dalton ran the read with Hill and Gio as well if not better than some of his other more heralded peers. It first randomly appeared and worked towards the end of 2013 and continued to throughout 2014.
I think it's a gimmick offense, and could kill a qb, but defenses seem to respect Dalton, and not try to kill him like they do IRGIII.
It was impressive towards the end of last season, and I surprisingly look forward to more of it. It adds an element to the run game, takes advantage of one of Daltons strengths in ball handling, and mobility, and the offense isn't reliant on it so can maintain it's effectiveness.

A lot of people are going to say 2005 or 2013 because those were probably our two best teams of this era but I am going to go with the 2012 team. Our defense was great during the second half of that season and we finished the regular season with a 7-1 record. We were a missed Andy Dalton throw away from winning that game.

I dont know if its me or what but I think Bengals need a better MLB Rey Maualuga hasnt really played that well sure his average but average doesnt win playoffs right now Bengals are pretty good at all other positions as far i can tell well maybe QB but Andy is still getting the team to the Playoffs he just needs more help on the defense side they might can use some help at WR just for Depth because right now they only have 3 good wrs in Green Jones and Sanu and they need a good backupmtomstep in if one of them gets injured they drafted Mario but with im being under 6 feet he won't be able to get over most defenders to get the ball. But no matter how you look at it the Bengals are just missing the 1 key player that will open the door for them to win a few playoff games or even a Super Bowl.
What do you think the Bengals need to win a playoff game or Super Bowl

Bengals ranked 31st in NFL uniform ranks by Uni Watch |

Bengals ranked only above the Jags with the following reasoning:
Quote:There's a fine line between uniform and costume, and the Bengals have been on the wrong side of it for years now. The striped panel on the pants even looks like a tail. Unfortunately for them, Halloween doesn't fall on a Sunday this year.
I'm pretty sure that they just copied the same thing they wrote last year and pasted it in for this year's "analysis".
I don't get the infatuation with uniforms like the Steelers (ranked 1st). They are plain and boring. Having a logo on one side of the helmet and not the other is asymmetrical. Whereas the Bengals are criticized for their uniforms being more of a costume for Halloween (the black and orange being a big association of that)...but that's what a Bengal tiger's colors are, so what are the Bengals supposed to use?
It seems that if the Bengals are to climb any kind of uniform rankings, they will have to get rid of any accent colors or patterns on their uniforms and have just one solid primary color on their jerseys and pants.
Your thoughts on the above rankings?
