RIP Burrow Era

Huh? Most of us on here do it all the time.

I think Burrows going to make some boys shine tomorrow without his stars.

The Bengals have a super bowl contending roster and if you can't see that then maybe step away from the bong.

Not dumb. Close to an AA meeting, but not dumb.

Exactly. Usually Antonio Brown syndrome comes after a SB win. But I'm guessing a Mike Brown lowball offer can be insulting. Not everyone likes Denny's coupons.

The gameday thread is a pain in the ass. You got to admit, people saying the seasons over after we lose the coin toss is just pissy, crybaby, Karen-type shit. It ruins the vibe of someone amped up for the game—just my opinion. We've seen some pretty good comebacks when a few were crying fire from the sky. I mean, whoever does it, it's their right to do so as fans and members on this board. But people shouldn't get upset or offended because others don't like that kind of vibe on a fan site.

I do not think we are as good today as many think. I do however believe that we could become a Top 3 team heading into the post season.

Our early weak schedule may provide some false bravado. As the season goes and we get guys off the IR, the rookies and young/new players get snaps and experience, we could very well peak at the right time.

I'm hopeful that I will not over-react to the first half of the season either way, it is how we finish that truly matters. We had a 10-7 regular season the year we went to the Super Bowl.

No, it's you that doesn't understand the point of the gameday thread. It is for discussing the game, not whining about every little thing and calling the game lost at the coin toss.

Exactly, the whole GD thread is just about who is the biggest Karen and who can bash the team the most. Then on Monday they come back into Jungle Noise like fan of the year.

The Reader issue is less about him being gone and more about the fact that he was not replaced.  There's not currently a NT on this roster.  Not great for the kind of division we play in.

We did not need to replace him with a NT, we now have Rankins, who is admittedly more of a 3T, but is very good against the run and much much better in getting penetration into the backfield. While Reader may have been a stone wall at the line of scrimmage, I hope to see Rankins making the tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Here are clips of him working against Cappa, who is no slouch....

I love the Rankins acquisition for a push up the middle on passing plays.  His run defense however has been pretty bad.  He scored a sub 40.0 rush defense grade 2 out of his lat 3 seasons.  (34.4 and 38.2)

We certainly need him to be a stout 3 down DT.

Part of being a fan is the ability to ***** at your team and I understand that. But sometimes, it's over the top.

I get pissed off sometimes and yell at the TV. WTF are you doing? And things like that. But I'm usually consumed by only 1 play. Then back to hope again. We're not all alike I guess. But that's why my participation in the GD thread has dwindled over the years. Hate people pissing on me when I'm trying to have a good time.

It's odd to refute a post saying we suck by telling me I'm wrong and that they've actually always sucked.

Well nothing gives me pessimism for this season. If you want to give up the day before the game then go in the corner and pout. You are welcome to come back tomorrow afternoon and complain if we don’t measure up to your expectations.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Well I may be surprised, but I think between him, Hill and Hubbard the run will not be a problem. If it becomes a problem, we have Jenkins in a week or so...

This year's team is a definite improvement over last year's team which was undone by an untimely injury combined with huge communication issues on defense. It turned out the player that we missed was Bell much more than Bates. Well Bell is back and with Stone they comprise a major upgrade at safety. Note that in preseason we did not see the issues that plagued the defense last season - until the scrubs played and then you SHOULD see those issues.

The Chase imbroglio happened to other teams too with stars - it is an unfortunate fact of life. And yes we've had a bit of injury bad luck right out of the gate but fortunately the injuries all seem to be only very limited time missed. We just have to get through until they all return. I did a post in another thread about how it is annoying that every year the Bengals seem to have a position group nailed by injuries - and it is annoying. But at least this time it isn't a rash of season enders.

Do I think this is a GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) squad? No. But it is a good, sound one. Let's just get through the early games 2-0 or 1-1 and we're in a much stronger place than prior years.

No, that's the exact point, there are no rules to the gameday thread and you try to impose them. It's like you haven't been to a game before, a bar, or around any other human during a football game lol.

The difference in your scenario is it's only 1 of you yelling at the TV, if there are 30 people in the GD thread it's going to be the same 15 people throwing their hat on the ground lol.

It is not for people with who are sensitive to that lol, but yeah I'm calling sled out for being one of the "pissing on people for having a good time" - part of their good time is bitching about why Mixon gets 1 yard a carry half the time lol.

Then you've got the inspector gadgets after the game re-reviewing the thread to see who was wrong or right in the moment, lol, just ***** hilarious stuff.

Everyone here wants the team to win, it's funny how people tell others how to "fan" in the moment. Let people act and react how they want, what does it harm you lol. It's not like they're off rooting for some other team during the same game, as much as it may seem lol.

Now in this same thread trying to diminish the rights of fandom if you ***** about the team, is also hilarious. If/When the Bengals win there is no diminished right for any of us. When the Cavs won the championship there was no fan that had "diminished fandom" because of how they fanned up until that point lol.

If you're in the sports heaven discord server it's sometimes 200 people at once typing live over a game (superbowl/etc.), I think you guys couldn't handle that lol. People are not a hive mind, they don't do what you expect or want. The least you should expect is the courtesy to not be a dick to your fellow fan...lol.

Imagine you have a party with 50 people over and you kick 25 out because you don't like that they throw their hat on the ground when our punter kicks 20 yards back to back.

Feelings mean jack shit though, so until results come out, we can all feel the way we want to.

For example, I feel significantly better about this season than I did last year.

We'll see.

I love that we abbreviate it to GD thread.  It literally is the thread on this board most likely to be damned by any manner of god.

Glad the season is finally starting. I swear, the offseason is the most painful, lonely, stagnant part of my year. Heat, yardwork, regular work, no reward.

Eh...guys holdout around the NFL for new contracts. It isn't unique to here.

When you have a bunch of good players, you can't keep them all.

Elite QBs make guys look great. It's Burrows chance to shine.

Your last sentence is correct. Chase and Higgins are both above average receivers in the league. If the Bengals can't win without them they deserve to finish near the bottom.
