We ended up giving Mike Gesicki $100k more than Tyler Boyd got, and I would have gladly taken Boyd over Gesicki at the same price.

I put more stock in them than some rando's eye test.
Most eye tests only catch plays that involve the ball and people tend to only remember a few plays each game out of 50+ snaps.

Would you believe your own rando eyes, or a grade on PFF that conflicted with it?

Usually PFF because, like I said, I'm noticing/remembering typically maybe a few plays in a game where a player may have performed well or poorly when the ball was in their direction and therefore they showed up on the screen during replay.

PFF goes through every single snap for every single player when they grade them, being able to stop and replay the tape over and over again.

I'm just watching real time on the TV broadcast, drinking beer, and walking away periodically during commercials and some plays.
I don't pay a huge amount of attention and focus on individual players during an entire game.

Maybe you do watch that closely to individual players though all/most snaps though and replay the recorded game for certain snaps.

I trust what I see, and never understand why that is a questionable take. 

I get why some prefer to have numbers and be told how good or bad players play though. But if you want a player have a great game and PFF grades them poorly, that reaffirms flaws in the system.

I know you're being facetious but each game gets assigned two analysts plus a senior analyst. Some of this information may be outdated, so take it with a grain of salt. When I was familiar with their process, the analysts were part-time, seasonal, low paid ($50-ish per game) individuals churning through games. They were not football people. It was common to have college students doing it for a little extra cash. If the analysts had a large gap in their play grade, > 0.5 points, the senior analyst came in and decided. Otherwise, the grades were published. The senior analyst did conduct a review afterwards which is why some grades change after a few days. 

They churn through analysts like no ones business, and these guys aren't much more knowledgeable than the average fan. This is why they aren't taken very seriously. Fans love it, though. 

Volson has looked good. So has Cappa and so has Karras (Pass Protect score 76). OBJr has looked elite so far and Mims impressed so far. The entire line has held its end up very well.

This is why I never cared for PFF.  I get the impression they make their money off people who like to talk football and will just take their word for it.  It seems many other people love PFF when it supports their view but think they are full of it when PFF doesn't support their view.  I wonder if the hardcore gamblers and such that analyze everything NFL take PFF seriously.
