Bengals took McKinnley Jackson in 3rd round pick #98 most boards had him around 150 to 175. The Bengals go against analytics while drafting alot ( Age, Production, Athleticism etc).

They seem to reach for perceived need, when they could likely have traded back a few spots and still got their guy.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I watched the Titans/Chargers game yesterday, not impressed with Sweat. He was a complete nonfactor, no penetration and was easily moved by a singular blocker. Small sample size, I know since it was the first time watching him, but I am more impressed with Jackson

Remember when so many were excited that the Bengals drafted Jermaine Burton? Yeah, that already seems like a lifetime ago as he appears to be headed toward the John Ross led pile of bad picks..

There are definitely times they do. And the guys seem to usually be from big schools that are on TV a lot. Not always, but it happens.

Like Murphy was probably drafted too high. Carman maybe a round too high.

Yes. I feel like nearly every guy we draft has a decent bit of the board excited. Like Wow! We just drafted 7 great players.

In reality, if you get 2 good starters from a draft, you did well.

I agree with him. I thought we had changed but we haven't. Chase price only going up. When you guarantee a contract you have to put all the money in the bank up front. Having just done that with Burrow MB Needed a break to collect more money from fans. Just my opinion but I'm 46 an have watched this over and over.

Seems like the same thing.

The moment we kept all 10 draft picks should have been a sign to all. Do you know the odds of a draft pick being good? And we kept all 10!!!??? That's a 5th of our roster. CHEAP!!!!! Trying to replace talent with bodies. How's that working out? Now we are looking for leftover bums in FA in week 10!!! We needed some of those in March.

Meanwhile we have plenty of cash that we "saved" for Chase. But we didn't use it. So guess where it's sitting? MBs wallet.

By not signing a NT in free agency, the Bengals FO backed themselves into a corner and had to get McKinnley Jackson so they were forced (by their own doing) to over draft him, and couldn't risk not getting him.

This is what I am talking about in my "No longer falling for it" thread.

Yes, it sure seems we got a good bit more "window dressing" for a change. But the baseline core running of the program is still much the same as before.

I'm not hating on McKinnley Jackson I liked him in the pre-drsft process he reminds me of Pat Sims solid rotational NT. I'm just pointing out an example of the Bengals going against analytics. Myles Murphy is another size and athleticism but low production. The Erick All case is one we see often with Cincy drafting injured players that end up injured (PS I liked what Erick All was doing this season too.)
