Hard Knocks Ep: 1

Watched it yesterday.
Surely Tomlin is the more competent coach, but trying to look into <10 minutes of screentime for Zac and drawing sweeping conclusions about his standing as a coach is silly. Love me some Hard Knocks. Always well produced. Shame it comes during our season's death knell.

Tomlin is better in all ways, except for probably ethics, but they remove those from you once you arrive in Pittsburgh.

People actually try stack Taylor with Tomlin? I am funk the Steelers all day long, but that's just silly. Those carrying the tea for Taylor are getting pretty thin. Even the main fanboys have been church mice. Got the practice squad out

Tomlin took Cowher Team to a superbowl and blew another one. He hasn’t won anything significant with his own team. He's a glorified Marvin Lewis.

Zach's a good coach who has the worst FO and Ownership in the league(maybe in all of sports). The fact, that he made a superbowl(with this franchise) speaks to his coaching ability.

Funny how the board evolves, Now winning playoff games is hand-picking stats. I get some are always going to want more and you've been "fire Zac" after his 2nd game in charge , but since Zac has come into the league he's lead his team to bigger heights than Tomlin. Zac "tea-carriers" have gone quiet, because it's just tiring. Some want Zac fired every time we lose a game

Some call for him to be fired, but I haven't been one of them, though I wouldn't think it would be the end of the world should it happen. Tomlin has consistently made winning teams, regardless of who was playing. Because Chase and Burrow were able to get near the top does not make Taylor any better than Tomlin. Swap Mason Rudolph, Kenny Pickett or Mitchell Tribisky into a Zac Taylor team and wonder how many wins he would pull out. Strange how some fans of the Bengals cheer on a coach more than players.

It's impossible to debate against opinion; as facts are not required. "Zac's only successful because of Ja'Marr and Joe". What we do know is his first couple years (one w/ Burrow) were crappy as he rebuilt the team, he did not take over a successful team; as did Tomlin. Tomlin took over a team that had won the Superbowl just 2 years prior, but has only won 3 playoff games in the last 14 years. You can assert many fans currently bytching around here would be much happier with that than our current success, but I'd go out on a limb and suggest they'd still be bytching. IDK about those who cheer the coach more than the players; as I cheer for both to do well.

The Taylor haters will continue to hate him and call for him to be fired regardless of what he does. The Bengals hired Taylor because they went with the trend to hire an offensive minded Head Coach, so if the OC is swooped up by another team, as was Callahan, they don't have to start from scratch with the offense. This year's record is not good, but there is no denying the offense is and has been clicking, and though play calling seems to bug a lot of people they score enough points that they would already have 8 or 9 wins with even an average defense. Lou's defense has let this team and Taylor down. Now, whether that is on Lou or on the front office for not re-signing players and bringing in dead weight replacements is up for debate. |
