Why do you keep spouting this misinformation? Bates had some really, really good years here. He had his highest graded year ever in 2020.

He was great that year. I have no idea what his grade was, but I was really impressed with him out the gate when he was a rookie in 2018. It'd be nice to have that impression of a rookie on defense again. Now it's "he might develop into a contributor" at best.

It's not misinformation.
He was good his rookie year, bad his 2nd year, great his 3rd year, and then mediocre in his 4th and 5th years. He was amazing in the 2021 postseason and forgettable in the 2022 postseason.
He was never consistent here and had more lows/mids than highs.

Because it's not misinformation. You seem to forget him getting burned repeatedly and then claiming his contract had him distracted. He was okay while here not some superstar.

He's an all pro quality player. He showed that when he was here. He is showing that in Atlanta.

CTB was in his 3rd season.
If your players don't respect you enough to be in shape and be professionals, then you need to be fired regardless. All this "Lou is a fall guy" nonsense started up awfully quick. Guy had a below average defense in 5 of his 6 career years as a DC. But sure, it's just some bad luck and injuries.
Truth lol
Lou's Defense lived off the fact they made big plays at big times in the biggest of games. Imagine if we had a Defense that could
actually tackle well, cover well and have another End besides Trey that could rush the passer...
All the while make a big play here and there. Need to start with the fundamentals and then at worst you have a good Defense that
doesn't get as many turnovers as you would like. As we all know, when it rains it pours with turnovers on Defense, you shouldn't
count on turnovers as being your life saver.

On another note, I think that the secondary will look better this year simply by having Dax Hill and DJ Turner back and healthy. We knew it was going to be a shit show when they went down for the year, and all we were left with was CTB and some back of the roster guys.
With Hill and Turner back I think we will be better in the secondary as well. You also have Jenkins and Jackson getting playing time their rookie year and I would expect they will be better too having a season under their belt. Jackson missed most of training camp and started the season on IR so you also have to consider that when looking at his progress this year. I do think we need to add a pass rushing DE and a good DT to the defensive line. If there is a proven CB out there maybe you take a look. A new DC with a fresh perspective could help as well. I think the defense could be much improved next year.

Not sure, and I also wondered if it sparked Burrow making comments about seeing who is dedicated and serious about playing hard and winning.

If Hubbard is injured and cant perform, he needs to let the coaching staff know, otherwise they are going to put him out there. Orlando Brown Jr. let the coach staff know he couldnt do it and they sat him for games. When Hubbard did sit they had Myles Murphy taking snaps who is a bust at this point. Otherwise you had Ossai taking snaps and he didnt show anything until the end of the season. LDE was a problem this year and Hubbard is part of that problem. He was horrible last year, he was horrible this year. Maybe the problem is he just isnt good at this point in his career.

The only family members I remember were:
Torro (MJ's dad)
Bengal SiS (Shayne Graham's sister)
MUTiger (Chase Coffman's fiance's Dad). Neither lasted long. I hope the marriage lasted longer

the narratives about "this good player wasnt even that good" is mainly garbage. And it ends up defending this subpar front office more than anything

I think the young guys in the secondary getting snaps after the injuries helps as well. Not saying that Newton, Wilson and Ivey are world-beaters, just that having a little more experience down the depth chart might be a benefit.
I'll never be surprised to see this team draft or sign a cb. It's always been a priority position for them.

Anyone who states Jessie Bates wasn't a good player here is wrong
Anyone who states we should have given him All-Pro money to keep him is also wrong.
The important thing to remember is in both situations I'm right.

Bates contributions were more than observable...he was the glue that held the secondary together...bengals could have afforded to keep him

Hubbard, has never been anything but below average to average. Now,he isn't even that good.Time to cut the cord, and move on.They spent a first round pick on Murphy.Time for him,to put his big boy pants on.
