Pratt requests trade

I really liked this pick and I still like the player, but he was more of a pass rushing specialist at App St than he was anything else. Golden may have been the LB coach here when he was drafted? I can't remember. Wts, perhaps Golden goes back to ADGs strong suit and uses him more as a pass rusher this season.

I haven't noticed ADG being particularly bad?

His overall grade for the season was a 59, he's decent when sent to blitz, but that's about it. Well below average in run defense and a liability in coverage.

TDN suggested trading Germaine Pratt to the Eagles for a late 5th round pick. The Eagles may lose Zach Baun and Oren Burks to free agency and have three late 5th round picks. They would get a veteran starting linebacker that can step in for Baun for 5mish base/cap hit.

Damn, and I thought we could only get a 7th for him.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

Pratt shines on the big stage and in primetime. When all eyes are on the team. His value is probably higher to outside teams than what people think.

Even this last season he was making big plays in big games on the big stage.

It reminds me of Mixon who everyone acted like was a bum, but Mixon too shined in the brightest of the lights and biggest of stages and we see he is far more respected across the league then people around here gave him credit for in his final days as a Bengal.

Same with Bates who shined on the big stage and ended up being far more respected across the league then we realized.

I really liked the ADG pick as well Coach and had us taking him ahead of Logan in one of my Mocks. Yes, Golden was here when we drafted both
ADG and Logan and he very well could get them back to playing like they should. Bettcher was not a good LB coach as all the LB's regressed under
him from where they were with Golden.

Agree, ADG should be used as a pass rusher and Golden likes to blitz Linebackers as we saw at Notre Dame. Wouldn't surprise me if we drafted
another pass rushing LB and kept ADG around as another. We have our smart LB in Logan if he can finally stay healthy. I think our LB's will be
much better this year with Golden and Hodges here.

Yeah, early on when both Pratt was struggling ADG looked good for us as a backup and when Logan got banged up I thought ADG
was our best LB last year until he got more time and started. After ADG got to start he looked bad in both run and pass Defense, he
was exposed in these areas and shown that he should be used as a backup and a blitzer which is his best trait.

Do that in a second....

At least they now know exactly what they have in ADG, and will likely not offer him much/anything in terms of a second contract.

There were some other notable LBs who were also under 60 though, as PFF grades for LBs have overall always seemed lower compared to other positions.

Patrick Queen, Josey Jewell, Trenton Simpson, and De'Vondre Campbell are some notable LBs with sub-60 PFF grades.
I believe we see so many LBs around 60 or lower because they generally are not great in coverage, which plays a big part in PFF grades, and I think they kind of look at coverage the same way they do DB. They don't really grade LBs on a curve despite being bigger than DBs.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yeah, ADG should be cheap if Golden wants him back which I bet he does especially with Pratt maybe leaving.

I liked what I saw from Shaka Heyward the most late last year of any LB on the roster. Bring this guy back before anybody.

How was Beneford (spelling?) the cover backer for the Bills? Thought he looked really good in coverage for the Bills?

Had a bad injury against the Chiefs though and I don't know what his contract status is...

I see 3 LBs with grades who have 300+ snaps:
Dorian Williams - 58.5 overall grade, 39.1 coverage grade
Matt Milano - 53.3 overall grade, 45.1 coverage grade
Terrel Bernard - 48.2 overall grade, 37.7 coverage grade

Milano's 2021-2023 were much higher graded than this past year.
2021 - 70.1 overall
2022 - 73.7 overall
2023 - 70.9 overall

But even at the low 70's in those years, he was one of the best rated LBs in the league.

Ah, the player I am thinking about must of been a Safety, he had a LB number though, like 43.

Milano is a damn good player, always liked him, he was banged up big time last year.

Hell, I'd take Pratt going to the Eagles and Baun coming to the Bengals. Get the math right, front office!

He is more of a special teams kind of guy.

I posted Eagles NT Jordan Davis as a potential trade target for the Bengals.

Germaine Pratt & a 4th or some kinda pick swap for Jordan Davis... Then sign Josh Sweat in Free Agency lol.

To me this is a good thing, I'd be on the phone with the Colts asap trying to get a deal done. Hopefully ol Lou would welcome this guy into the fold up there.

Bengals trade: Germaine Pratt- cap hit of 5.8

Colts trade: 7th rd pick #234 cap hit of 867k
or
swap 6th rd picks #191(colts) for our #195 marginal cap hit, by moving up 4 spots.

-The cap savings allows us to add that into adding to our cap space as well as getting younger/faster on Defense at the LB position

Yes! Heyward did not see the field much last year, but when he did he was impressive.
