No way I want Volson starting next year, but we should keep him around as a backup.

Oops I ran 23 and 24 together. Regardless he's better than what we had for sure. But I definitely wouldn't pay him no big money. 2 year prove it deal would be perfect.

Same, those are the 3 I would like the most and I also wouldn't be against Tevin Jenkins or Scherff. Lots of great options for us even with
Trey Smith out of the picture after being tagged.

He was def trending up. The only thing that gives me pause is, in the Bengals first 4 games this past season, Volson was good in 3 of them and people started getting giddy until he came crashing right back down.
The one..well, two positives. 1. The injury may have saved some team some money since he didn't get a full season of his early production and 2. His "bad" games are actually pretty average, whereas Volson's bad games are terribad.
You don't really wanna see your Oline guys give up more than 2 pressures per game with a few 3 pressure games lightly sprinkled in and you want them to stay away from the 4+ pressures completely. In 2023, Fries had 3 games with 3 pressures and 2 games with 4 pressures, while Volson had 3 games with 3 pressures, 2 games with 4 pressures and 2 games with 5 pressures. This past season he had 1 game with 3 pressures, 1 game with 4 pressures, 2 games with 5 pressures, 1 game with 6 and 1 game with 7.
That's bad to the nth power.

Yeah I wouldn't mind Jenkins either. Scherff is a little long in the tooth for my liking .

Bengals weren't gonna touch Smith regardless. He's going to be looking for monies in the $20M APY neighborhood.

At a cost of 3.5 million? Im not a fan of Volson especially if he is going to be a 3.5 million dollar backup. Cody Ford should be cheaper and would give you as much production as Volson.

On a one year rental to get a rookie ready I wouldn't be against Scherff and Becton/Daniels/Fries as the extended starter...

Agree, wasn't impressed by his terrible postseason play anyways. Happy the quiefs tagged him.

Linderbaum might be available next year......if ravens tag him it'll be like 23 mill since he went to the pro bowl. Not sure I see them paying that kinda money for a center.

I am leaning to Zeitler as our FA fill at guard, he is the best of bunch in level of play and is a snaps monster. We need to be a win now team over next 2 years, signing him to a 2 year deal that will be much less than the others gives us more $$ for an impact Dline player and we sign the best durable and successful guard of the bunch.

I know we have all been clamoring for it here AND this was prognosed by many of the outside experts, but when has that mattered to the Bengals? My point? Perhaps this is the first sign of Tobin telling us "We've held on to players too long in the past", and now acting differently.
Will be interesting to see what else comes...or goes as it were.
If Hubbard gets cut, then this will ring true for me.

I would love for a cap expert to explain how he is making in the final year almost the entire 3 year contract he signed.
I thought Volson got a pay bump because of the amount of games he's played.

So that's why we see an elevated salary.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Won’t let #2 center leave.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

I would think the Ravens would have to have another IOL step up this next year that can play Center to be able to let Linderbaum leave.
But yeah, if he was available, he would be perfect for our future Center.

Bears gave up on a 6th to get a former Pro Bowl left guard, Jonah Jackson. I don't know how good Jackson has been since his 2021 Probowl campaign, but trading a draft pick to fill a need is something I hope the Bengals are exploring:
"The overhaul of the Bears' offensive line began just over a week before the start of the NFL's free agency period. The Bears are in the process of sending a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for guard Jonah Jackson, multiple sources told ESPN.
***
Jackson, 28, has started 61 games over five NFL seasons, which included a Pro Bowl campaign in 2021. He has predominantly played at left guard since being drafted by the Detroit Lions, where he played for new Bears coach Ben Johnson for three seasons."
