"Inching closer" to getting the JaMarr Chase deal done

All you have to do is scroll through a game day thread to see lots of Bengals fans losing their crap by the play. We have way too many whose head lives in the past.

The sad part is these fans can't enjoy the journey because they still live in the past.

Nice hearing something. Damn was it quiet around here the last couple of days.

4 years 164 million bucks sounds about right to me after the Garrett deal.

Awesome news if true. To me Chase has always been the priority. Tee I could live with him signing to a deal with no bonus and then trading him.

I would add this is a very reliable source I am guessing he has agents on speed dial as Bengals FO never leaks anything.

Let's hope by Monday Chase is under an extended contract. If Bengals do come through and make him the highest paid non QB in history (after making Joe Burrow not long ago the highest paid QB in history) our fans can give the Bengals the credit they deserve and didh the Bengals are cheap narrative.

For those who said they had no choice, we always have choices.

Rapoport is pretty reliable.

Heck, we could have told you these valuations months ago. The question with the Bengals, as always, is structure and guarantee money

I hope both deals end up with us having them under contract for next 5 years.

So a 4 year extension for Tee and a 5 year contract for Tee.

That would align with Burrow as well.

I am really hoping they get these done then the other dominos in free agency start falling. There are still a lot of guys out there that could help this team on affordable deals.

I know fans like to blame the FO anytime things go poorly. I had a conversation the other day about Bengals not getting Chase done and then Garrett reset the market for highest paid.

His comment was it appeared both sides were looking to get the deal done at the combine. He said it is very possible Chase's agent found out Browns were looking to keep Garrett and offer him highest paid contract.

It is possible because I don't think the Browns woke up one day and said today we are going to offer Garrett the moon, then got it done quickly. As he said, Brown and Garrett's agents were likely speaking for weeks.

Seems like getting Tee for anything under 30m is a win now.... Given the change in landscape.

I think Rapoport is extremely reliable and why I feel a lot better.

I have no doubt he got info from an agent. Tee and Chase have the same agent (firm)

Maybe the Goodwin 3 year 66 million hurt Tee's value. He is projected to get close to 30 million a year also and only got 22 million APY.

Feel the same.

We all knew Ja'Marr's deal was going to be around this after last season, but I agree that is too steep for Tee with his injury history.

His deal should be around 28 mil per year at most. Sounds like he is going to get 30 mil per year from what is being said.

Maybe not worth it if you don't agree with extending Tee, but we are definitely at the point of FA where there is on one else to spend the money on except maybe Jenkins who misses just as much time as Tee so that is that.

I wasn't for extending Tee when I wanted the money to go elsewhere, but that kind of money isn't going elsewhere for sure now.... And it has to be spent.

I don't and also have an attorney review it. Bengals are getting ready to dish out probably a minimum of 125 million guaranteed. Chase is getting ready to get 125 million guaranteed minimum.

Do you think it would be important to doa thorough check on both sides prior to signing.

I get everyone wants it done yesterday, but to me if this is true, they have agreed on the numbers, everyone should be very happy snce Shefter reported yesterday they were not close.

It doesn't take me over a year to read details of a contract and I sure as hell hope a lawyer can read a contract faster than me.

Goodwin turned down 3yr/$86m ($28.67m/yr) from the Patriots because he and his family wanted to stay in Tampa Bay.
