BREAKING: Bengals give Trey Hendrickson permission to be traded
(Yesterday, 02:15 PM)Goalpost Wrote: His combine numbers, with a 9.95 RAS, were impressive.

I really like his film and the number of things he can do.

Those are some impressive highlights alright. Thanks Goalpost.

Jihad is like 3 players in one, a Linebacker, an End and a Safety. He can tackle, rush the passer and cover. Would be great value for these reasons
and is the type of Linebacker Golden would love to have play the Viper position.

It's interesting, but I've been looking at him too. I think our LB room needs something. Maybe it's him?

Yeah, Jihad is different than anything we have drafted at LB in some time. Could be a star in the NFL if used right.

If you can get past the thinking of taking a "LB" in the 1st round, Jihad is definitely a defender that should be in consideration.

Plus, a lot of the ends I see mocked to go to us weight 240-250 lbs. I don't see us doing that.

Jihaad...in some mocks goes as high as 9 though.

Probably special teamer? You get an elite LB, it will change everything. Heck, elite S, elite DE. 1 playmaker on defense in addition to Trey and the defense gets so much better.

I still like Green.  Idc how big he is.  He plays a lot bigger than his listed weight and is strong as hell.  I think he and Pearce are going to produce right away.

Big fan of Jihaad as well.  I thought he was bigger than he actually is FWIW.  I'd be happy to see him be the pick.

IMO it's not out of the question to take a safety, either.  They're taking a big risk if they go into the season with Stone and Battle as the guys. One is a bad athlete for the position and the other (Battle) still has some questions about being able to hold it down at this level.  I'd like the group a lot more if Stone could be a 3rd guy like he was in Baltimore with a higher upside draft pick stepping in.  Doubt Nick E. makes it to us, but they should run to the podium if he does.  Starks would be another obvious choice.

It comes down to whether you think a stronger secondary brings the most bang for the buck or additional pass rush makes the whole unit better.  I'm not sure there's a correct answer, but they have to hit on the pick either way.

Good points and yeah, he could easily be gone before 17.

Truth. An elite player at any of those positions would take our D to another level. We have a bunch of solid guys besides Trey is about all we got.

Logan when he was healthy and Golden was his LB coach looked like he could be elite maybe, but he just hasn't been the same the last few years.

I think Dax has elite potential but he also has had trouble staying healthy and has been moved all over the place stunting his growth.

I like Mike Green too and of course Emmanwori. Jalon Walker, Walter Nolen, Kenneth Grant. One of these players should fall to us.

I like all with the exception of Nolen.  He seems like a Myles Murphy type.  All of the tools and lacking in the appropriate production that they should bring.

I watched Ole Miss a few times last year and Nolen stood out in a great way to me. If there is a concern, it is his character.

Plus Murphy is an End, not a 3-tech like Nolen. Don't really see the comparison.

I know they play different positions, just speaking to the lack of production in college despite physical tools.  I hate when they pick those kinds of players regardless of position.

I live in the heart of SEC country where at least 5-6 SEC games are aired every Saturday. ACC, SEC, and thankfully now BIG10 with the FOX acquisition. Ts, if you get a chance go watch some tape on Nolen. I think it will help to ease your concern a little.

Unless a player like Warren, Booker, or Jackson falls; Nolen and Grant are the two clear choices or so it seems.

I agree, the defense needs another playmaker. That's why I'm so hooked on Nick Emmanwori. Getting an air traffic controller back in the middle of the secondary will fix a lot of things wrong with the defense, as well as make life easier for the front four to get to the QB.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Hunter extension shakes up any contract negotiations.

He is 2 months older than Trey too.

6.5 sacks and 14 TFL this past season is lack of production?

Yeah though Trey doesn't hold much leverage (than sitting for a while) they'd be looking at tagging him for say 28M or whatever it is next year.  He may fight for a small bump this year and a partial guarantee for a 3rd year...but having to guarantee 35M next year may change everything.  They need him playing:, they're in win now mode while having to win on the margins in the draft and cheap pickups.

I think the LBers looked worse because of no Reader to keep lineman off of them.

They also took weird angles sometimes.

I'd probably take Jihaad with what I know now. I haven't did my draft evals yet. And I may not have time to anyways.

The Texans just outlined how to take care of this.

Via Tom Pelissero of NFL Media: “The #Texans and Danielle Hunter have agreed to a one-year, $35.6 million contract extension that makes him the NFL’s second-highest paid defensive end, per sources. Hunter will make $32M this season — a $12.5M raise — and $55.1M ($54.1M fully guaranteed) over the next two seasons. Deal negotiated by @ZekeSandhu
of @KlutchSports.”

As we know, it’s not really a one-year extension. It’s a new, two-year contract. Hunter was due to make $19.5 million in 2025. He’ll now make $55.1 million over the next two years, an average of $27.55 million per year.
