Notes from Voluntary Practice

I do give them credit for parting ways with them.

JuJu was also an issue with his pregame antics... until Bell cleaned his clock.

Pittsburgh often gambles on character risk guys, though.  They  generally don't catch flack because of their history and Tomlin.

did I miss a different interview.. was a totally normal interview, not going to practice till signed contract, what is unusual about that interview below unless you have a different one I missed

Rookies can sign a waiver to practice if unsigned. Stewart and Knight opted not to. Agent advice I’m sure.

Pickens got 3 years, I doubt Burton gets a shot in 2026 if he doesn’t turn the corner this season.

Brooks weigh is something to keep an eye on……

Stewart not practicing is a big tell to me. Guy needs all tge reps he can get to learn how to finish plays and he’s sitting around with his thumb up his ass.

Looks like a bad pick. Same with Jnight. From the very beginning, this was not a good draft.

I don’t blame any rookie for not wanting to do physical activity before signing a contract. He hurts something at this point, he’s screwed.

All hopes turn to next year

I don't have an issue missing rookie mini-camp. If it continues into the installs then it's an issue. The biggest obstacle for rookies right now is the playbooks so the walkthroughs and installs ate a must especially if they are going to get playing time.

This is absolute horrible draft, did you know only 11 1st round picks have signed, those other 21 teams really suck.. Hilarious

I mean, most teams do suck though, maybe only 5 teams have a chance of winning a superbowl. With Lou's defense last year, we were definitely not one of them.

Imagine Burrow has any kind of fall off from this point on, it's almost unfair how good the offense was to how terrible the defense was. Let's see what Albert can do.

We are putting all our chips on offense, I wonder if we will look back and say we should have built the best defense we could for burrow and give him and chase as many chances as possible.

Man, I take a nap and learn JB retired. Ninja

I thought he had a good 8 to 10 years left. Sarcasm

I mean, just saying. Seems ike they handicapped Brady and it didn't matter, maybe they did it for a reason.

I think Burrow + Chase and a Defense = ring.
Burrow + Chase + Tee and a great RB and bottom of the league defense? Miss the playoffs.

The early part of that equation smells like Mike Brown. Burrow is our best QB ever, he needs a defense, that was readily apparent last year and seemingly visibly frustrated about it. Couldn't make 1 mistake, and even if the offense played perfect, can still lose.

It also made me think, most teams in sports are just fodder for the few. Without them, there is not enough audience/money coming in!

Think of Browns/Bengals fans, who have won essentially nothing. They've made so much money off us. Lol

1.) We were 1-4 without Tee last season.

2.) The problem isn't that we can't afford  a defense with Jamar and Tee locked up. The problem is FO is too stupid to build a defense and the same goes with the offensive line.

I will never fault anyone not under contract for not participating in Team activities, this includes players who have been franchised but not signed.

It's the contracted folks I talked issue with.

That's also because our defense was one of the worst in the league last year, they are taking a Mike Brown type approach which has not won us anything yet.

I think the #1-2 QB in the league and the #1 WR might have barely been enough to have enough cap space for the D to be a superbowl winning combo, but I don't know what the cap hit is for the 3 of them now. I'm guessing it's 33% for the 3 of them.

Yeah, the problem is on the Defense, we can agree on that for sure. Maybe they they know they'r really bad at their job (at building a defense), but they know Tee/Ja'marr/Burrow are not bad at their job, so they better keep them lol.

Burton is coming off his rookie season and has a very short leash. I for one would like to see if he has figured things out before he gets dumped by the team

He can have fun and make lots of money in Dallas.

Serious teams don't let guys like Burton keep hanging around JMHO.  It shows weakness.  It reeks of desperation.  He cost a third rounder.  Lesson learned.  Chance taken.  There's a virtue in failing gracefully.  I'd rather see a try hard UDFA make the roster over the only college player that I've ever seen slap a girl in a hissy fit of rage as they streamed onto the field as college fans do.  He was a passable receiver on an Alabama team that was known for having shit receivers.  I don't see how Mr. Pajama Party can ever fit on an organization that is at all serious about being the best of the best.

It's how they've always gotten WRs who played above their draft status. They seem to get a couple years out of them before dumping them onto another team. Middling risk, high reward. Let them throw like two decades of 1st round picks largely at only OL and Defense.

They haven't picked a WR higher than 49th overall since they used a 1st round pick on Santonio Holmes in 2006.... but they've still drafted 6 different 1k WRs since then.

I think it might be working out less and less for them though. Turns out that it's much harder to pull off successfully when you don't have a possibly HoF QB throwing them the ball as well as guys like Troy Polamalu to stabilize the locker room. Also a lack of real success (8 year playoff win drought) makes locker room problems magnified.

Dude, you need to calm down. Burton is, at best, our 3rd receiver and, so far, has been used sparingly, like he was the 6th receiver on the team. It's also not like he's a rapist, wife-beater, murderer or locker room cancer. And while I wouldn't shed a tear if he was indeed cut from the team, I'm also not naive nor stupid enough to think that Burton being on the team is the reason we won't win a Super Bowl.

You act like that one Colts, Steelers, Broncos, every team but the Bengals fan from the old boards that couldn't stand Jake Delhomme.
