How hard do you want us to blink over the Browns' salary cap? A year is also a long time in sports. I wouldn't be in love with that contract if I was a Browns fan. At the same time... What the hell else are we gonna do with the money we have laying around?

Why not? The salary cap isn't stagnant, in fact it's projected to keep rising 9-11% each year going forward. Three years from now $40M/per for Garrett will look like a good deal, just the same as the $35M neighborhood will for a top 5 at his position guy like Hendrickson.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Adam Schefter on ESPN Get Up and Louis Riddick just went scorched earth on Bengals over Trey & Shemar

Yep, and Watt is a couple months older than Trey. You think Pitt isn't going to sign him to big money and multiple years?

Good point. Like I said, I am for a couple years of 35+, just not a 4 year deal of 35+.
Need outs in the 3rd and 4th years as he most likely falls off.

I found the clip of Louis Riddick online and he was quite passionate, as you stated. But the only clip I found of Adam Schefter was rather measured. I think I'd be surprised if Schefter went scorched earth, given how he values his access to insider information and wouldn't want to jeopardize that.

I’m so tired of this franchise.

Was the clip on this mornings Get Up? Then it’s probably it. I thought he was highly critical. Scorched earth may have been embellished. But in reference to Adam being measured he usually is and I’ve seen enough of him that I was taken aback

I’ll give signing Trey a 1-10 chance.

Tossing out a guess or getting some local gossip that Zac thinks it's bye bye Trey?

I guess as a fan, yes i'd love to see Trey in there at DE, but if the Bengals offer $35M from what I hear they upped their offer and he turns that down then yeah well he doesnt wanna play football and you adjust and move forward without him.
Let him sit out a year and sign a contract next season with whomever at 31 or soon to be 32....IMO he's not worth $35 or $40M a season. However, that's my opinion.

It matters less about what he's worth and more about what he can get paid. The NFL is full of desperate GMs who are about to lose their jobs and all Trey needs is one or two to convince themselves they're one pass rusher away from a playoff run.
I could see a team like the Bears or Falcons being convinced a FA pass rusher is all they need to take the next step and give Trey a moronic contract we are too cheap or too smart to give him. It won't make us better to let him go. But what can ya do?

My counter to that is I'd prefer to see him on the field during the Burrow era to try and win a Super Bowl. The dispute between the Brown family and Trey, or Shemar, is first-world, privileged shit between the super rich and rich. I just don't care about it. I only care about the team winning. Pay the two DEs and go play ball.

The Mike Brown era has 0 Lombardi trophies, but we do have two shoulda won lombardis from 2005 and 2015 as well as trophies for winning stand offs versus Corey Dillon, Carson Palmer, and Andrew Whitworth, for example.
I assume those trophies are like a Lombardi with Mike Browns head where the football would be.

I mean I guess we could say the Cardinals, Falcons, Bills, Panthers, Browns, Lions, Texans, Jags, Chargers, Vikings, and Titans all suck too because they dont have a Super Bowl win. Bengals have been to 3 of them and coulda woulda shoulda won at least one of them.
At the end of the day, the Bengals run their organization like a business because is their business. They have no oil business like Jerry Jones, they aren't Billionaires like many NFL owners, including the Browns owner now. So again, I may criticize how they do things but it's their business. I have a choice to be a fan or not to be a fan and I've bene a fan since 1980. If the Bengals had since Trey and Jamarr in the off season you'd hear people ***** about Tee walking. Eventually, Trey will sign a contract IMO.

They do run it as a livelihood. There’s good and bad with that. They aren’t spoiled like a lot of uber rich owners. If you’ve ever been around a family member or close friend that extremely wealthy they can’t escape it. Money is of no consequence to them. A lot of NFL or professional team owners are pretty spoiled and competitive. But the Browns are more scared of wasting than spending money. The fear of wasting dramatically more than spending

I'd accuse you of being on the Bengals' payroll with this level of PR posting, but you aren't Mike Brown's great great great grand niece as far as I know, so that's impossible.
