I was not a fan of the pick myself so I could believe it.

Also, I am not sure Trey is the top 3 DE/EDge/outside LB's in the NFL. He is an awesome pass rusher, but against 40 to 45% of the defensive snaps being runs, he is rated good at best ad not close to elite.

Is he better than all these guys?

Garrett
Watt
Parsons
Will Anderson Jr.
Leonard Williams

He definitely is against the pass, but how well do his do against the strong runing games like the Ravens he plays 2x a year. Is he a strength or a liability against Henry and Jackson?

I am not dishing Trey, he is a great player and outplayed his current deal, but he is not a complete DE in my opinion. He will get paid for his pass rush ability in spite of his liabilities defending the run.

Trey Hendrickson is better than Will Anderson Jr.,  Leonard Williams and yes even Micah Parsons.

Micah Parsons run defense makes Treys look like Sam Hubbards. Trey is also just ad good as a pass rusher if not better. Parson is just more athleticlly gifted but Trey is better. Williams and Anderson are better run defenders than Trey but not even in his realm as a pass rusher.

Was it proper etiquette when he asked for his extension last year, or the year before that? It's a yearly deal for Trey....

That'd sorta be on the front office though too... I really don't know who's right in this situation, but I know it's becoming a yearly thing here.

Really makes you wonder if Trey is indeed telling the truth. He's been wanting a contract extension/restructure for a few years. Was the 1 year given to him really as a we will revisit this soon if you take care of your part. It all seems to point to this.

No, I don't t think Trey was in the right to ask a new contract last offseason.

With that being said Trey was professional last season and did not create  a stir last season.

With all that being said what happened previously is irrelevant to the here and now. He is deserving of a new contract that pays him at least 35 per a year.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

The point is Trey's ranjing at 30+ years old is debatable. He thinks he is top 3 which means he thinks he is possibly better than Watt and Garrett. Not many share that view. If he is being honest, the words should be I am the 3rd best DE in the NFL, otherwise it is just a myth being perpetrated by his agent and himself to garner more public support to get a bigger deal.

I contrast, I have not heard the Bengals say Trey is a top 10 DE in the NFL which they could and not be lying as a means to devalue his value to fans.

It usually is a yearly thing with good NFL teams as some have a tendancy to overvalue their worth

Oh I understand that. Our FO isn't the easiest to deal with. My confusion is this, fans have been wanting them to get with the rest of the NFL on doing business. This clause is written in just about every rookie contract now across the NFL. I just fail to see how hard is it, with the amount of money you stand to make, to keep yourself out of trouble?

Imagine showing up day 1 of a new job and complaining already before you actually did something productive?

Can you provide some examples of what you're suggesting from the last few seasons?

I could but I have better things to do rather than spending an inordinate amount of time doing so...yet...time after time..season after season..when teams in the nfl exceed..playoffs..superbowl...afterwards.....you always have a transition of players from said teams that are sought after by other clubs or they request a redo of their existing contracts in an effort to be paid more

My god...why the continuing discourse of the bengals FO....these little salary and contract disputes happen in almost every franchise..at this time of the year...furthermore..and you know something..it is the right of any ownership to make their own determinations of a players worth regardless of sportscasters not agreeing..If you play well it would appear that the Brown Family will pay you

What is Black Sheep Perfomance?

Does Trey live in Cincy or have a house in Cincy?

I would like to hear he is at the offices at PBS sooner than later and he brought Shemur with him

Apparently he has a house in Florida but I'm sure he has some arrangements in the area here as well:
