Not that everybody takes it, but Shemar did not do the 3 cone test at the combine. This tests for agility and change of direction. For the life of me, i cant figure out his lack of productivity and why he didnt finish plays. I dont think i see any lack of effort, at all, on film.

One explanation is he is raw & does not tackle well, nor take good angles. Maybe he gets over excited and overpursues. Maybe his football "sense" isn't that good/IQ that high. Maybe bit of each. But he is young. Good work ethic. Seems well liked by coaches & teammates. Coachable. Despite lacking sacking, he still graded out well vs the run. Some positionsl versatility, willing to play inside some. Whatever it is, the hope is it is something that can be improved with coaching, experience, learning, & growth.

He has agility, pretty sure you saw that in Shemar's film. Like you said, he plays really hard. If you notice he gets lost when he puts his head down when he is lined up and that is when he loses the QB and doesn't dominate the OL. He needs to wrap up once he gets to the QB. This can be taught. Get Trey extended and in camp, he will show him. (Yesterday, 03:04 PM)Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 Wrote: One explanation is he is raw & does not tackle well, nor take good angles. My only worry is his IQ honestly after him talking about his dispute publicly. But as you say he was universally liked by his coaches at A&M so there is hope. All I know is he can set the edge like a mutha in the run game and that is sorely needed on this team. Trey is not the best run stopper, neither is Ossai and Murphy was terrible stetting the edge last season. Shemar should be an instant upgrade over washed up Sam. He will be much more disruptive as well with his lightning quick first step, athleticism, power and strength. All elite.

Montgomery was essentially Stewart's private coach today working with him one on one during position drills and coaching him up after every play

If Montgomery can be an upgrade over Hobby coaching up the youth on the DL good days are ahead for this Defense.

Not great on DJ Turner. He’s often been the one getting burnt on a bunch of the clip I’ve seen. ![]()

But it is Burrow and it is nice hearing our run game doing some damage for once, just wish it was against another team.

Well the offense could do that to anybody in shorts. We all knew the offense with all the starters and same scheme would be ahead of the defense. The defense still learning. Hopefully it’s not a sign of issues. Too early to panic.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

I disagree on Turner. He was really starting to come on last year and then got hurt. Definitely think we needed to add depth to that position that might push him to more of a backup role. But I'm not concerned about Turner. ![]()

A guy that has very little interaction with the other players and is quiet and leads by example over words then we are in trouble. The coaches should be able to get the rookie up to speed with tape and coaching on the field. I am not expecting Hendrikson to come in a coach up our rookie words of encouragement and a tip here or there yes but not much more than that.

Obviously, we're not waiting on him, but a lot can be gained by watching how someone who has excelled on the field goes about his business on the training field/drills. Coaches can coach, teammates can inspire. Currently, Ossai is our veteran to learn from on the field. ![]() ![]() |
