Burns vs Keller in Pittsburgh and Martinez vs Henderson when Milwaukee comes to Cincinnati.

7 innings by Littel when the bullpen was gassed is huge and a great way to introduce yourself to your teammates. Only two walks and one of those was an old fashioned pitch around. Andujar scores twice and Hayes makes an impact on his first play on defense. Looks like the trades made them better for today. 48 more games left for them to make their own individual impact.

Two of the Cubs trades have hurt them in this series with Soroka now possibly injured and Kittridge takes the loss with 4 earned over 1/3 of an inning.

The Mets lost their third in a row and are only a half of a game ahead of the Padres, who just fell behind 3-2 in the 4th on a passed ball.

Yes, Littell was ON.  As I said before game, Reds needed a bullpen break.  Reds had a big hitting inning after Cubs good starter left the game, both starters did great.  BIG WIN for Reds taking Cubs series with a chance for a Sweep tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for heads up on the upcoming Friday games on Apple TV.  There is always Reds On Radio. Also Google up MLB Games and click on Reds game and click on Play By Play.  It gives you pitch by pitch and pitcher pitch count, and shows where ball was hit.  I use this on games I'm following close in my Fantasy Baseball. It's almost like watching it on TV.  If you go on that AND have Reds Radio going, that would be a good combo. Could be they don't match up in time, but it makes for a nice Scoreboard as you listen to Reds On Radio.

GO REDS....and we have Bengals Preseason Games starting.

Littell pitched as good as when Reds added Tom Seaver.  It could be the player addition that puts Reds in Play-Offs. I like a lot of the Reds player moves since last season, starting with adding Terry Francona.

Great game by Littell ThumbsUp and bullpen shut em down over last 2 innings. Series is ours, who woulda thunk it? Next 4 on the road vs. not so great Pirates. Be nice to pad some wins up for the brutal 6 game homestand upcoming vs. the Phillies and Brewers.

Kittridge secretly Mariano Rivera?

Come on guys, you can't go 9 pitches 3 strikeouts.

Really didn't. A couple of those pitches weren't strikes but somehow called that way.

We're 7 innings in and if you just looked at the Reds offensive numbers, it's shocking we won this series.

As of heading into the 8th inning of Game 3 the Reds hit...
.185/.200/.315 (.515 OPS) with 2 walks and 29 strikeouts

And yet somehow have won the series.

Internet shows only the very first pitch of the inning was borderline, and even that was too close to be considered a "miss" when grading even by the stricter standards.

Be nice if this 3rd baseman could get a hit every now and then

I see a pattern with the Reds. After getting to 4 over, it numerous times to get to 5 over .500. Then when 5 over, it took numerous times to get to 6 over. Now we are 6 over for the 3rd time, we will have to try again to get to 7 over. Time is going to run out, if they don’t break this habit.

We didn’t get him to hit, but for defense.  I would have rather gotten on offensive player, myself. Because this team is inconsistent and strikes out too much, can’t get runners in from 2nd or 3rd.

Oh look, we didn't get shut out.

How many times is Hayes going to hit the ball to left side with runner on 3rd

...and somehow won the series. Minor miracle right there.

2 walks and 31 strike outs is depressing

Didn't really expect a sweep of Cubs. We were very lucky to win series.

Arizona blew a 2-1 lead in the 9th and lost 3-2.

Here's Lance MacAllister's comment on the trades a few days ago.

My thoughts on the trades:

I’m intrigued. They clearly got better. They clearly didn’t give up much.
Is it enough, probably not, especially considering what the Padres did, the team the Reds are chasing for the third Wild Card. I think San Diego traded 14 prospects for 7 MLB players.

But the Reds bought. They provided help for a group busting their tail, a message that certainly has to resonate with players.
They showed the fans they were engaged. Heck, they added at least $36M to their books going forward.
I like helping in four areas: Rotation, bullpen, defense, offense.
They helped the rotation/bullpen with the add of Zack Littell. He gives them depth/options/protection. Two years ago this team was forced to start guys like Brett Kennedy and Connor Phillips, Derek Law down the stretch.

I think Miguel Andujar is a really sneaky smart add. They got help for one of their most glaring offensive issues….. hitting LHP. A .298 hitter in a league hitting .245. Hitting .422 in 48 plate appearances vs LHP this season, .411 in 61 PA vs LHP last season, and .380 vs LHP last 3 years. Only Aaron Judge has been better vs LHP in that span. The A’s raved about him.

Ke'Bryan Hayes? He upgrades their woeful and unsustainable defense at 3rd. He becomes the best defender on the roster and their best 3B glove since Scott Rolen ( I know, I know, he made an error last night). But I would not have gone that route and put four-years/$36M on the books. Not for a guy essentially hitting like Santiago Espinal, and with a history of back issues.

As for what they gave up: I’m a big fan of shortstop Sammy Stafura (2nd round/2024). But he’s behind the likes of Edwin Arroyo and Tyson Lewis, and they just drafted Steele Hall. I like, LHP Adam Serwinowski. But I got mixed reviews on him when asking around. Kenya Higgins? I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of. I never mentioned him in a single Down on the Farm report. Taylor Rogers? The guy allowed a small village of inherited runners to score. There is a reason Giants originally gave the Reds $6M to take him.

It wasn’t exactly breaking news that Nick Krall was facing payroll limitations. I don’t like it, you don’t like it, but it is what it is. He had to be selective and creative. He was. And he was able to keep the likes of Burns, Lowder, Stewart.
Did they add “the bat”? No. They didn’t.
That’s frustrating.
Did they get better? No doubt.
That’s encouraging.

DBacks took a 2-1 lead to the ninth and give up 2 runs. Padres won 3-2.
