#81
The only vibe I get from this team is, it's going to be an exciting year! Looking forward to it!

We can talk about odds if you want.

Im guessing you would like to say we have a 2/10 chance of beating the ravens any given game because that is the record you brought up.

That might seem to make sense, but you fall victim to the logical fallacy called the gamblers fallacy. What happened before doesnt affect the odds of something similar happening in the future.

It might seem intuitive that past success increases the likelihood of future success, but the best you can do is give them an edge over the bengals greater than 50/50 based on the players/coaches on one team being better or more proven and one team having better matchups.

Seeing as the most recent games have been so close it likely comes down to who has the ball last and you have to give the ravens an edge with their ability to control the clock with the run game—but its not like their defense has been stellar recently either.

I agree you have to give the ravens the edge but to say it’s a lock doesnt make logical sense.

EDIT:

I looked up ‘pedantic’.

Now this is the 3rd or 4th time you either called me a name or belittled my point by sharing a facepalm emoji or something else disrespectful.

I on the other hand have not called you any names and have tried to be respectful. It isnt easy when someone is being disrespectful towards you but i am able to see through it.

Anytime someone resorts to this type of behavior (keep in mind name-calling is another logical fallacy) it doesnt bother me because i know what it means.

I do, however, ask that you be more respectful as there are rules and guidelines to follow on a message board. Someone like me might see right through it but you may offend a weaker minded person and thats simply not okay. So i ask that you be more respectful and refrain from name calling. Like i said, i could care less if you do it to me but im more looking out for others on the board.

I agree. The offense seems like it’s ready to pick up where they left off.

The defense seems optimistic as well.

Im skeptical of the defense but the offense seems to be looking forward to carrying the team.

Its been a full offseason for the offense (havent had that in any previous years). I think it’ll be a fun year.

Again, I know what that means to respond in an offensive way like you’re doing.

It means you lost and are trying to belittle my argument by resorting to a strawman argument or a personal attack.

It may make you feel good to do this but it just makes you look bad.

Illogical is a more respectful word. Sorry. But they mean the same thing.

Keep in mind i didn't call you an idiot.

I said the argument was idiotic.

But you're right i should have said illogical.

The defense is going to get better week by week. I've been saying it all off season, as well as plenty of others, this D only has to middle of the pack.

One break our way and we could have beat them.

Are you arguing it's not possible?

Actually, they did get the break. They had the lead late in several games, yet the defense couldn't close the deal.

The defense definitely choked.

But the offense needs to close out games too.

The chargers game they had plenty of opportunities to close out the game on offense.

If they can run out the clock with the lead and play a good 4 minute drill they can win more.

Brady and a lot of other elite teams made a living doing it.

Thats something that needs to be stressed more by the coaches.
But more importantly, they need to learn how and make a habit of winning this way.

Well, Joe burrow is only one of three QBs to throw for 40+ tds and miss the playoffs. The others.. Marino and Brees. Pretty good company.

The other 26 seasons of 40+ TD seasons resulted in playoffs. So 90% of the time, you make the playoffs.

Some of those teams also had bad defenses, like Brees and manning.

Burrows great. But the offense can be better still.

He’s definitely got a 50+ TD season in him with his weapons.

And the offense can be better with a lead.

That's not good company at all unless you don't care about team success and only care about putting up gaudy stats.

1. You missed the playoffs.
2. Marino is most well known for being the greatest QB to never win a SB.
3. Drew Brees only won the 1 and then over the next 11 years never won more than 1 playoff game in a season going 5-7, for a total of 9-9 in 20 years.
