Sure if you negate the fact that "Cinci" wasted a top of the draft 1st round pick on Ross. Where a 3rd round pick is a bit easier to get over if it doesn't work out. There are a lot of talented players that just don't have their heads on right. How many times was it repeated here that Ross was basically still a rookie? :)
I'm not saying Burton can't turn it around. I hope he does. But we are going to have to wait for that and see if it happens.

I'm pretty sure Dre Kirkpatrick is still "basically a rookie".

I’m also pretty sure he’s still celebrating incompletions he had nothing to do with. Even from the couch.

For his sake I hope he makes our roster or some else's, but we see this every year. Heck, many thought the same about Kendrick Pryor and he's back on our PS.

Lol, that actually reminds me of yesterday a bit. Third play of the Commanders first drive, Knight and Ossai combined for a tackle for a 1 yard rush and Knight celebrated and I actually said out loud... "Knight, you guys just gave up back-to-back rushes of 19 and 40 yards. Maybe tone down the celebrating on a routine tackle right now." (And then they gave up a 14 yard TD run the next play.)

I can honestly say I've never been stoked for Burton for 1 second in my whole life and IDT there was as big there was as big of a Burton fan club as you remember.

True, but Tinsley has none of the personality/mentality baggage associated with Burton.
And besides, Iosivas continued to improve yet again, from one year to the next.

Idk about “fan club” but I definitely remember a lot of Golden Binns talk after those preseason games.
8 receptions on 10 targets
6 first downs
157 yards & 2 TD’s
19.62 avg
158.3 passer rating when targeted
There was a decent amount of hype.

Yoshi is for sure ahead of him. Not even a question. Burton is battling for WR 4/5/6 at best.

Couldn't Tinsley make it without cutting Burton or Jones?
Chase, Higgins, Iosivas are locks.
Jones probably a lock as the return specialist.
Bengals could easily go 6 and keep Burton along with someone like Tinsley, no?
Tinsley could essentially take Irwin's 2024 roster spot.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Fair enough, and I like to consider myself as hoping for the best of each player, but I'm not sure I can root for this dude to take someone else's spot on the 53.

The reason I felt it necessary to bring up Yoshi is because last year around this time, the vibe was that Burton was going to be some meteoric talent that would surpass Iosivas on the depth chart. Obviously that didn't happen and not Burton is recovering from some sort of physical injury, while Iosivas, who teats his body like it's his livelihood, is continuing to meld with the first team offense.
Kind of a shame that Burton got injured and Tinsley emerged as big play potential guy. I would much rather have had Burton being a potential trade candidate than Tinsley. Tinsley is a guy that I'd like to see stick around for the when the inevitable moment that Higgins history of nagging injuries catches up with him.

Couldn’t agree more. Tinsley is the great feel good story

Tinsley has to be a lock for when a certain unnamed WR inevitably goes down with a hammy, right?
Beyond the vs backups narrative, his ability to make the adjustment for a catch, doesn't just grow on trees. And I'm sure #9 would love to have another WR with that ability. Surely they keep 6 WRs...the TE room is going to be interesting. Will other roster spots affect how this plays out?

I feel like Burton will wind up on IR to begin the season.

Before Tinsley's breakout, Burton was clearly WR5.
Jones was clearly ahead of him both on ST and WR. Nothing has changed since, and Jones has been even better lately.
I am not 100% convinced we carry 6 WRs, though it is likely.
But ileven if itcwas only 5, I think Tinsley still would make it.
That makes Burton WR6.
