Too many good movies and a few not listed:

Mask
Fletch
Out of Africa

One of my personal favorites that really is a crappy movie is Vision Quest.

All things considered give me The Breakfast Club.

The Breakfast Club ranks right up there.  I had a crush on Ms. Ringwald after that flick.

The Goonies has held up quite well.
The Shining, Blade Runner, Raiders of the Lost Ark,Platoon,Raging Bull,Fast Times,Scarface,Caddyshack,Ferris Bueller's Day Off, E.T.,  The Terminator,A Nightmare on Elm Street, Do the Right Thing, Tootsie all movies from the Eighties. Saying that one is the movie of the decade is certainly open to serious debate and completely a matter of the eye of the beholder.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 came out in 85. That's arguably the worst one.

Goonies is one of the most overrated movies ever.

Favorite "hits"

Jewel of the Nile
Back to the Future
Fletch
Pee Wee's Big Adventure

Better movies that were not hits.

After Hours (One of the all time best movies that many people have not seen. A comedy masterpiece from Martin Scorsese)
Brazil (cult classic that a lot of people have probably seen)
The Falcon and the Snowman (based on a true story about 2 young friends who sold security secrets to the Soviet Union)
Fandango (A great coming of age story about 5 guys who take a wild "last" road trip after graduating from college in 1971. Really good movie.)

**EDIT** forgot Pale Rider. One of my all time favorite westerns.

Love the movie Fandango.  The whole skydiving part is quite memorable.

Don't know why that movie wasn't a big hit.  Good actors and a good story. Well written comedy with some serious issues thrown in.

I love the wedding scene with that great Pat Metheny song.

Heard on the radio today they are remaking Jumanji and a Bad Boys 3 and 4 have been green lighted.

Are there no more creative people left in Holywood? My lord.

Okay I don't want you all to think the whole movie was cheesey because of this one clip.  Most of it is a rollicking comedy, but there are also dark parts about one of the guys going to Vietnam.  It is about 5 guys on a long road trip after graduating from college.  they are all dealing with leaving their carefree colleeg days behind and dealing with grown up issues.

I also really liked this because back in the '80's I was a big Pat Metheny fan

I went to the movies one time in grade school with a bunch of friends. A couple of them were dating. They sat in the back row and made out the entire time. When we left one of the girls jeans she was wearing were completely drenched around her crotch area.

True story.
