Chase not Practicing
(08-28-2024, 09:50 PM)bfine32 Wrote: What antics did Joe Burrow have to pull to become the highest paid player in the NFL?

QB's are highly protected in practice.  They are far less likely to suffer a career ending or altering injury during TC.

EXACTLY. I said after Bates and ESPECIALLY after Tee that it was a really bad precedent to set to not take care of great players/locker room guys/ people in general when they did all the right things. Especially Tee. So what u show the next guy is he needs to be a prick to get his money. So now we have this exact situation with Chase.

The bengals finally got a generational qb. The cheat code to contending for DYNASTIES and we are watching them slowly screw it up with their same old BS. If we don’t get atleast one Super Bowl out of Joe Burrow the family should have to sell this franchise. I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the same old “we can’t pay x guy because we have to pay z guy in 3 years” all for us to either not pay z guy at all or make it extremely long and drawn out. I’m sick of the billionaire Mike Brown trying to explain to us how pies work. Well Mike, all I know is I see other franchises make it work a lot better than you seem to make it work. Please send this old man off to a nursing home already. He’s disrespected this loyal fan base for too long. Nothing but an entitled nepo baby who at 89 years old, ZERO championships and a horrible reputation, still stubbornly thinks his way is best. Clown.

It’s a team sport. We have 11 starters on offense and defense.

We almost made the playoffs with Browning as our QB last year.

Everybody is replaceable

In the games he actually started, Jake Browning went 1-3 against playoff teams last season. With the lone win coming against the Browns who were resting their starters.

As for KC winning with scrubs at WR, they have a HoF TE, a HoF DT, and a HoF HC. We don’t have any of that. They also struggled during the regular season due to their WR’s. It was the first time in his career Mahomes had to go on the road in the postseason. And if Lamar wasn’t an habitual playoff choker they probably don’t even win the AFCCG.

I don’t like what Chase is doing, the start/stopping. Hold out or don’t. Don’t toy with my affections, lol.
He made Zac look like a chump. No need for that…

I'm done with Diva Chase. Look at the example he is setting for Burton and the other young receivers to follow. Doesn't practice, late for practice, not going to play.... Trade him already for a DE and sign Higgins to a long-term deal.

Interesting watching how opinions trend on here. When the drama was surrounding the Tee Higgins situation, many put the focus on the Bengal hating agent for the high contract demand. Now that the emphasis is on Jamarr Chase's situation, he's the one being painted as the evil diva. Does anyone not suspect that his agent has a hand in his actions?

Of course his agent, and Tee's are in there muddying up the water. But the bottom line is the agent works for the player. I was OK with Chase not practicing in camp, but at this point I'm not ok with it, and even less ok with his hints he may not suit up. I hope they sue him for breach of contract. Mr. "I'm not selfish" turned into quite the diva.

Agreed. And Chase's my second favorite current player, after Burrow, and I have an collector's item card of his on my desk at all times. But these antics of his are beyond the pale. Although he pulled these antics at a tough time for the Bengals. They can't sign Higgins until after the season and any top draft picks would have to be for next year's draft, not helping the team this year. I'm sure there are trade partners, but the trade partners would have the upper hand in negotiations.

I think it's even funnier that a bunch of people are now saying to trade Chase and sign Tee when Tee's camp is the one that demanded a trade this off-season.

At the end of the day, Ted Karras, the elder statesman on the roster has publicly supported Chase and said he's not causing any issues.  Sounds like a business as usual hardball negotiation.

Cooler Heads need to prevail here.... a deal is going to get done.

No sources I just know the Bengals pay their best players.

I would say by the time we actually need to pay Ja'marr, if we haven't won a SB yet, will we want to pay for another 4 years of the Burrow/Chase combo?

I say pay Ja'marr now, this not setting a precedent with other players, it's an exception. I don't see us keeping Chase after another 4 year contract (if we won a superbowl or not). Do we think Ja'marr is here long term if we are not winning superbowls and he's asking top dollar? Can Burrow win with just Chase and potentially a low cost OL and nobody else on O?

I'm banking burrow wins a superbowl in the next 4 years, if not, why would we pay ja'marr another high dollar salary after that? The combo financially may not be working at that point (?).

I agree with this, if we take Chase off the team as it stands, we probably don't win a SB. If we take Burrow off, I think we guarantee we don't win a SB lol.

We are not built like the Browns where a 4th string QB and 2nd string RB make it to the playoffs.

That's why I call this the Burrow era, not the Zac, Chase, anyone else era. They should be attempting to win a superbowl at all costs under the Burrow era, but it's a business. How much are finances playing into it?

Chase and his agent are proving without any doubt that they are only interested in the $. There is no such thing as player/team/teammate loyalty. It is about who can reset the market for the next 90 days. If he is still under 2 years of a rookie deal why is he rocking the bars of the playpen now? There is a season to be played, oh... I forgot, the season isn't that important or a SB it's about the $$ and taking care of his family in these difficult times.. Whatever

For some reason there are people that think Cincinnati will slide into the Ohio river if Chase doesn't get "his" deal. The Bengals will cease to exist without him. He wasn't even in the top 10 receiving last year. And if Burrow is such a generational QB where are all the Lombardi's?  Over in KC there is a generational QB with 3 of 4 Lombardi's in 6 tries. Funny, I don't see, read or hear about Mahomes sitting in, sitting out, holding in, holding out and HE has the results to back it up.  Cool

They will most likely come to an agreement on a deal but his actions now, leading up to that deal is a very childish, selfish, immature look.

Well they aren't trading Chase. He'll have to retire.

They should however send him home because at this point there has to be boundaries set. Zac had to come out yesterday and walk back his positive statements about Chase and pretty much admitted to putting his foot in his mouth and humiliating his self and losing his credibility.

For that as good a guy Zac is is disappointing that Chase would put him in that position.

At least Lamb, Aiyuk didn't show up at all. That I believe would be preferable to what Chase is doing.

It's worse then Chase skipping practice. It's Chase deciding when to practice and then not practicing, then coming to practice late, then humiliating his HC..... What Chase has done is more T.O then they typical hold out / in.

Not sure why Burrow is getting dragged here, but the Chiefs literally just went through this last season with Chris Jones.
