The NFL is a big business. Chase is asking for a huge contract extension (he is under contract) it is assumed. The Bengals have him under contract for 2024. I am not sure how playing chicken with the Bengals will work out for Chase.
I hope both sides compromise and get it done. But, if Chase is not practicing by Thursday, if I am the Bengals I tell him he is no longer permitted in the facility. The Bengals did not have to allow him to be there, but not practice. The Bengals did not have to not fine him $50,000 per day for not practicing as he is healthy.
I think it is the Bengals who are trying to appease Chase, not so sure Chase is reciprocating by not practicing.
I hope he gets his deal and both team and Chase are thrilled. I think he is a great WR but does us no good if he is not playing and then this spills over into season as a huge distraction.
I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

It's just that some people understand that decision and others don't.
How long did Patrick Surtain hold in, or any other 3-year player who got extended? I said early in the process that playing "chicken" with MB won't get you rewarded. Just ask CP9

Yep. Mike Brown is the last guy on Earth you should consider engaging in a game of contract chicken.

They were talking this morning on Sirius (I actually believe it was a rebroadcast of yesterday's show) that salary wise Chase will make 1 million this year, and that he's lucky the Bengals haven't been fining him, because he could actually be fined more than his salary if he continues to hold out.

But...Palmer got his trade eventually, so didn't he get what he wanted?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yep, just not when he wanted. I'm sure Chase will eventually get the contract he wants.

Surtain did not hold in, as far as I'm aware. Not sure he's the best example for you to use, though, as he became the highest paid player at his position with 2 years left on his deal, which is something you've had an issue with.
The others were signed before TC. Can't really hold in if your FO gives you your money before TC starts, right?

Surtain is the perfect example. I said very early in this thread I'm not a fan of rewarding bad behavior. Good chance you missed it as someone "corrected" it to. I don't like Chase. That dude was clueless.

Lesson learned. MB is the G.O.A.T in the game of Chicken.
Next Offseason... WWIII

That’s a bad example because he wouldn’t have traded Palmer if they didn’t offer us a stupid deal of a first round pick and another first/second round pick.
I’m presenting at a school in Cincinnati so I don’t have a chance to look up all the details but wasn’t it a former Bengals coach that was the head coach of the Raiders? I can see his face but can’t put a name with it.

Hue Jackson was the Raiders HC at the time

Palmer had already previously signed his big contract and had save a boatload of money and put himself in a position where he never had to work again. Chase is still on his rookie deal so essentially had zero leverage unless he wanted to walk away from the game forever.
This was never really an issue IMO.

He playing as I’ve said.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.
