Notes From The Game
(09-08-2024, 05:29 PM)BFritz21 Wrote: I thought the defense looked shitty.

The offensive line, aside from a few plays, I thought pass blocked pretty well.

Sad that we didn't see any(?) deep balls to Chase.

If Hudson doesn't fumble that ball, we score and it's an entirely different game. Mental mistakes that we can't have.

I'm so mad right now that I'm fuming and can't think straight, but what were your notes from the game?

Both sides of the ball have to take blame, 2-0 in turnovers in the end probably decided the game, Oline was better but last series not so great, im most disappointed in run defense and a healthy Burrow not playing to level we need him to play

Browns were slight favorites got slaughtered. Pats have a top 10 defense maybe top 5. Stephenson is top 5 RB. It's not like we lost to the Panthers or Broncos

Did you forget to type a 2 prior to typing a 5 there?

I'm just pointing out that we didn't get dominated as bad as it seems.

I'll admit that it was an ugly game but we still should have won.

Obviously, I was surprised by us going into this game in complete comatose. If we cannot stop the run, nothing else matters
and if we cannot score on top of it there is no hope. Really down after seeing the result yesterday and haven't watched the
game yet. Might not watch it lol

Don't! If you've seen 1 opener under ZT you've seen then all!

Burrow is 6-8-1 in September, which I assume means ZT is 6-12-1 in September.  Buckle up for a bummer of a month.  Whether you have ZT or Marvin, the question is which time of the season you prefer the team to magically turn into the 76 Buccaneers.

He can't. It's time to face the fact we have an extremely limited QB. Now what he can do he does well. But teams that know how to stop what he can do, he has nothing else. And he knows it "they took away the deep ball" "they played cover 2" (and that was that, he's never had any reply or ability to adapt. He is even pretty cut and dry about it).

It's a tough pill to swallow, but it's time we all speak freely on it.

Oh my God, dude. Just stop. Please stop. Burrow is not a limited QB, let alone "extremely limited". He can make ALL the passes, all the plays any other QB is expected to make. His only limitation are the injuries.

He had a bad game yesterday, whether or not you want to accept the reasons or excuses being thrown around, ok, but to try to make the moronic statement that Joe Burrow - whom most view as the 2nd-5th best QB in the league - is an extremely limited QB? Please, do us all a favor and go join another fanbase that accepts moronic takes like this. The Steelers or Browns fanbase, for example.

You watch the same game? If Brissett was a decent QB it would've been a blowout.

Overall, it's early.  It was. bad showing for the offense, but that's become pretty customary around here.  It's bleak, but not quite grounds for funeral arrangements.

I still despise the lack of effective run game.

I'm also perpetually asking what the actual offensive gameplan is.

I feel like the failure of the interior OL is getting overlooked.   They are a less than average group.  Combine that with the fact that Trent Brown did not get enough snaps in the pre-season and I think you have a major contributing factor.   The first team needs more snaps at game speed during the pre-season.

Other things:
  • Losing DJ Reader.  I know, the dead horse thing.   But he was a difference maker and another example of where I feel our front office simply cannot manage a roster.
  • A problem also losing Jenkins, Sampole and Jackson put us in a bad position on the DL
  • I'd complain a little about Chase not practicing, but he was our best receiver by far.
  • Hudson has to hold on to that ball.  Would have given us the win.
  • Tackling was sloppy
  • Honestly Joe had no confidence in his protection... or his receivers.   He was bailing on the pocket quickly and getting rid of the ball too quickly - which tells me receivers were just not open - or he was spooked.   There were times when he had maybe two seconds at most - and one at times.
  • Some of it was just pure rust.   But New England dis not have that look.  And it's been a yearly thing.

The interior line on both sides of the ball just has to be more of an emphasis.  I love the Mims pick, and I think T. Brown will improve.   But the core of the pocket is the interior.   That's what a QB needs most.

I liked Moss.  And the running game improved in the second half.  Gives me some hope.   But Mixon killed it because he had a better OL.

Sign Chase and start moving forward.

16 points is 16 points. I know the D has issues, but how much more can we ask of them to hold a team to 16 points...

Burrow is limited. This is his offense. And while no one on this forum has said out loud he is limited. EVERYONE has said he loves shotgun, hates playaction, prefers empty, doesn't care for being under center..... All the things fans blame Zac's offense for not doing much of, but needing to do in order to not be so easy to figure out what is coming.

You may not like to hear he's limited. But facts are facts and we've all heard it from the horses mouth. Burrow's "preferences" severely limits the ceiling of the offense (is that better?).

Say what you want but many are already coming to terms with this.

I usually even watch the losses to look for some positives but I might take your advice WhoDeyK lol.

Looked like Zack Moss had decent yards per carry. 9 carries for 44 yards and a TD isn't too bad.

There is definitely a problem going on here early in seasons and Burrow was healthy for once so that isn't an excuse.

It is okay for Burrow to have a bad game here and there, but he has plenty of weapons. Interested to see if we bounce back against
the Chiefs and if we just overlooked the Patriots and it was a trap game. Already knew Stevenson was a good RB and he was my big
concern going into that game. No excuse to not load the box and try and slow the run game down and force Brissette to beat us with
his arm.

You would agree  Sunday he was healthy and did not make the plays at level we need him to be.
