Both Carter and Ossai were clearly held on that play as well. But having Anthony in there instead of Battle or Hilton is just insane.
Don't understand it.

Maybe that's what Lapham was referring to....

Maybe he has an injury of some kind we don't know about.
This was my thought, a possible injury.

On the surface. I wonder if they were out tired or there was a reason around it that happened in the flow of the game.

It is honestly a great question, I know Battle is not known as much for his coverage but he has great instincts.
Clearly Anthony was out of his element on a couple of plays, especially the last one.
Just craziness on the biggest play of the game.
That's what I don't understand though.
I would not be having what I consider to be SAF4 as my DB6 in critical plays.
CTB, Hill, Bell, Stone, Hilton for certain.
6th would be Turner or Battle depending on the situation.
Is Hilton really not that good in coverage in a deep play like that?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

6 DB’s I get Battle but you never know the dynamics and if he’s unhappy after being replaced by Bell. Anthony has impressed them. Good grief he’s not the first guy to DPI. Hilton isn’t the fastest DB. I don’t know. Questioning a staff that held Kelce to 1 catch for 5 yards and Mahomes to his lowest passing yards in his career as a starter seems silly ( others are ) For sure you can microscope every play.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Spitballing about Hilton, but maybe they anticipated a sort of hail Mary type throw and wanted a height advantage out there.... otherwise, IDK

Im afraid he wasnt "in" for Battle or Hilton, apparently on that specific alignment, Anthony is supposed to be on the field with Bell and Stone.

From what Lou said in Pally's post it wasn't injury.

Agree, Anthony must practice really well though and must be another reason for having him in there.

That is a good point for sure. Hilton is undersized.

Hmm, I hope he learns from this big time if we have to see more of Anthony.

I was reading that Chiefs RB Isaiah Pacheco broke his right fibula on their final drive. Now, I'm not one to wish injury on anyone, but his absence likely will be costly for that team. I haven't looked at their schedule of upcoming opponents, but you have to think that their division rivals will be looking to capitalize on a more one dimensional Chiefs offense.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

On Sunday, the Texans finished off the Bears on a 4th and 17 play where the Texans rushed 4.
I had a bad feeling the second I saw the Bengals were just rushing 3.
It made it way to easy for Mahomes to move around far to his left to buy time to make a throw downfield.
4 rushers may have kept Mahomes more stationary than what he ended up being on that play.

It was not a bogus PI penalty. He clearly hit him, before the ball got there.

One thing to note: the game would not have been over had a penalty not been called on 4th and 16. There were 48 seconds left and the Chiefs still had all three of their timeouts at that time. Baring a Bengals 1st down, the Chiefs could have gotten the ball back with 40 seconds or so left. They only needed 13 seconds to drive into field goal range when they beat the Bills in the playoffs.

Of course it wasn't but I'll take my chances all day with the ball snapped on the chiefs 35, a minimum of another 10-15 seconds more taken off the clock ( 3-4 seconds run per each of 3 plays run by Cincy. especially running wide a couple times) , a real possibility they even run a 4th down play on 4th and very short to either convert or take even more seconds off, a FG attempt by an excellent hot kicker with a huge leg and lastly, although very unlikely, a punt to back KC inside the 10-12 yard line.

yet again in a hole where we have to rip off a 10 game win streak. no clue how, division defenses are way better than ours.
Too harsh. Without Burrow, the team played much MUCH better than 6-25-1. So, he can build a good squad outside of Burrow. That’s your barometer. In fact, didn’t the team have a better record without Burrow than with last year?
