Possible Zac Taylor replacements

Very simple schematically but it's still difficult on the players.

Exactly! Having a run game is so important to winning football. The success we've had has been without that important element.  Instead of being close a few times, we might have bagged a Super Bowl or 2.

You say he can fix those things, but the start of the season has been an issue for 6 years now. Last offseason he even talked about it and said he was going to be different, but then he wasn't and they weren't. If a guy spends 6 years showing you who he is and continues to be that way despite telling you he'll try otherwise, you just need to accept that's who he is. That's not being "sad" or "not being a man" (lol, seriously dude? You sure you didn't mean to ninja that?) it's just recognizing and accepting reality.

Ninja or not, which is often overused by posters trying to appear as if no snark is intended, the overly pro-Zac posters are going to parrot the playoffs wins and AFC Championship win as the isolated talking point for why he should receive no criticism from fans or why fans shouldn't suggest he be replaced.

You might was well man up and accept they aren't recognizing any reality other than a playoff run from years ago.

And yes, the man up quip is  Sarcasm  and not a slight against you.

That's where Paul and Mike Brown differ. Paul knew that a football team needed to fundamentally sound, and be able to move the ball on the ground. Mike on the other hand, is infatuated with the excitement generated by talented perimeter position players. I really feel like Katie needs to step up and bring the team back to Grandpa's way of doing things.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I often wonder if Mike simply equates talented perimeter position player + the QB as money made for him.

As long as the tickets sell out, I guess that he'd have reason to feel that way. However, until he invests better in fundamental positions, the Lombardi will continue to elude him.

I will grant you this... His draft position really doesn't matter anymore because he's on his second contract, and he's a great blocking TE. Having said that; they never got anything more than that from him, passed up on much greater players, and he just is what he is, and he's not really improved in other aspects of the game.

Exactly, many of us had hoped that he'd blossom into a greater part of the offense, but unfortunately he's reached his ceiling. Sad that he was chosen in the 2nd round, but it is what it is at this point.

Well if we had a better line and he could go out for passes more than being kept in to help block, maybe he would have.

Put all of your chips on offense (sign BOTH) because we know what we have there and we don't have time to waste. Fire Lou, and bring someone in here that can give you a freaking #18 (floor) ranked defense.

Fire all of them. Let's see what happens.

Let the new Coach pick his own staff....

I would retain Simmons though.   But new coaches call

I don't believe Zac is close to losing his head coaching job. He'll be back next season.

Ben Johnson, as a head coach candidate, has communicated his approach to interviewing and contemplating his next coaching move:

Quote:No. 1, he'll be looking for organizational alignment, particularly between the GM and the head coach," Breer said. "And then he'll be looking for a recognition from the organization on things that have gone wrong and the willingness to fix them.

That info has been shared by various media outlets. Just one source:https://www.thebiglead.com/ben-johnson-s-new-criteria-for-head-coaching-job-seems-intended-for-bears.

I find the comments interesting and thought about how they might apply to the Bengals if Zac were getting replaced. Would Johnson even interview with the Bengals?

1) Would he view Mike Brown or Duke Tobin as the GM and what would his perspective be about organizational alignment from the Bengals front office to the head coach?

2) Would Bengals ownership and leadership demonstrate an ability to recognize and communicate what has gone wrong with a willingness to fix it?
