Ja'Marr Chase is in a similar position to at WR: catxhes, yards, TDs. Additionally, with 1 more TD Chase would tie Carl Pickens for the Bengal record for a season and become the 11th member of the 100/1 club at WR, averaging 100 yards per game and 1 TD per game for a season.
Trey Hendrickson is also trying to lead the league in sacks. He would be the first Bengal to do do since sacks became an official stat, though Coy Bacon's 21.5 unofficially led the NFL in 1976.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/sacks_year_by_year.htm
Here is where they stand:
1. Burrow. Leads the NFL in Completions (423), Yards (4,641) and TD passes (42). Here are his closest challengers:
Comp (423): Mahommes (392), G. Smith (387), Matfield (386), Goff (363).
Mahommes is not playing. If Joe completes 25, Smith would need 70 to catch him.
Yards (4,641): Goff (4,398), Mayfield (4,279), Darmold (4,153).
If Joe puts up 250, Goff would need 493 to catch him, Mayfield over 600.
TDs (42): Jackson (39), Mayfield (39), Goff (36), Darnold (35).
Three from Joe would likely put this out of reach. But Mayfield did just toss 5 last week, I think.
--------------------
2. Chase leads the league with 117 receptions, 1,612 yards, and 16 TDs. Here are the chasers:
Catches (117): St. Brown (109), Bowers (108), McBride (104), Nabers (104), Lamb (101), Jefferson (100).
Lamb is shut down and Jefferson too far back. McBride and Naners could hit 117 with big games, and St. Brown & Bowers could top 120. But if Chase gets to, say 125, thst is gonna be tough to catch.
Yards (1,612): Jefferson (1,479), Lamb (1,194).
Everyone is 400 yards behind save for Jefferson at 133. If Chase puts up 100, he'd need 233. Not impossible.
TDs (16): St. Brown (12), McLaurin (12), Evans (11), Higgins (10), Jefferson (10), Andrews (10), B. Thomas (10).
This feels out of reach, but I guess 4 is not impossible. Dang that drop last week, I wanted the Bengals record in 16 and the 100/1 thing. Needs 1 to get each.
---------------
3. Hendrickson. Tied for the league lead in sacks with Garrett with 14 each.
Sacks (14): Garrett (14), D. Hunter, Hou (12), TJ Watt, Pitt (11.5), Va Noy, Bal (11.5), Van Ginkel, Min (11.5), Bonitto, Den (11.5), Greenard, Min (11), W. Anderson, Hou (11), Fowler, Wash (10.5), McDonald, NYJ (10).
Thanks for this Ike. Great thread and post with all the intricacies. At the very least we can be proud of these guys this year and hope they
win their respective stat races. Joe, Ja'Marr and Trey are great players to build a team around. Hope they all win their crowns and somehow
we sneak into the Playoffs as well, we will see.

When you target Ja'Marr a lot it usually leads to great things and wins.

Travis Kelce was the top vote getter in the Pro Bowl fan voting. You just know Taylor Swift fans, who don't may not know a thing about the NFL, ended up getting him top place. I can't take seriously the fan voting part of the Pro Bowl.

I believe all of the awards, including MVP, are based solely on regular season play.

If burrow tosses 10 TDS Saturday, maybe he climbs the list

Yup, MVP votes are submitted before the playoffs begin.

Interesting there's a couple hybrid players there in Kyle Van Noy and Andrew Van Ginkel. I said it last year the dude to get was Christian Wilkins I know he was injured early this year but the point still stands... and a reason I really want Mason Graham in stripes he's a Wilkins clone.

The Raiders sure seemed like they weren't going to be outbid on him. 4yr/$110m ($57.5m guaranteed at signing) for a guy heading into his age 29 season who suddenly had a big surge in sacks his FA year at age 28 and he's changing position? Those are all some real hesistation-worthy numbers and facts. I just wished we tried for some more vet help at DE rather than just a bunch of random young guys who hadn't and still haven't done much.
Where's the pick/round range that Graham is projected to go?

Nah Wilkins is an elite run defender that generated alot of pressure during his entire NFL career even being handicapped in the Josh Boyer system (Brian Flores system) as the slant player on all the DE or LB twists. It wasn't a surprise when he racked up sacks when Vic Fangio let him get upfield. Amazing versatility too can play from 0t to 5t. The age thing was a concern but there's always a concern about Free Agents their teams are letting them walk for a reason. Oh Wilkins was also an older NFL prospect because he stayed his 5th year at Clemson to try to win a Natty before NIL team leader stuff.
Mason Graham is going to be at least a top 10 player maybe top 5. He's one of like 9 or 10 players in this class with a true first round grade.

That's good info. Some of those guys are more OLB/Edge types rather than the true DEs Lou prefers....
But I think your point stands, there is ALWAYS value if one chooses wisely.

No sacks yet for Garrett. Van Noy got 1 to move to 12.5.
Early 4th quarter.

Because I am not warping my views and beliefs of not making sense just to align it with what's potentially most beneficial as a Bengals fan, it's weird? I find that thought process weird.
Something doesn't make sense. Also I am a Bengals fan. Those are two separate things. Thinking that because I am a Bengals fan that something must make sense is really strange.

In baseball you don't really get to choose to have a ton more plate appearances. You have a PA and then you have to wait until the other 8 guy in the lineup get a PA and then you can have another. You play a full season and you're going to have ~700-750 PA. Your availability is the major determining factor in opportunities, so counting isn't terribly illogical there though as you pointed out they switched to AVG in batting title because it's simply better.
In football you can play a whole season and have either >700 pass attempts or <500 attempts depending on your OC, even if it's the same player.
Matthew Stafford 2012 (16 games): 435 completions on 727 attempts (59.8%)
Matthew Stafford in 2021 (17 games): 404 completions on 601 attempts (67.2%)
Same player, different OCs. Former gets 1/3rd of a triple crown because he was an inefficient mass thrower and the latter doesn't despite being vastly superior because of the playcalling? That just doesn't make sense.
Pro football started in the 1920s/30s. It was 50 years before that was a stat.
Comp% is not part of the TC.
In Horse Racing, the trem started to be used in the 1920s. In baseball, the BBWA starting using the term in the early part of the 20th century.
So, you see, 1973 is a lot later than that.

Chase finishes the season with 127 receptions, 1708 yards, 17 TD’s.
Jettas would need 230 yards tomorrow to move past him in yardage.
Trey should also end up being the sack leader with 17.5

Trey and Chase looking REALLY good.
Someone could catch Burrow on TDs. Mayfield needs 4 to tie.

Joe comes up just 82 yards short of 5k.
