I still remember the playoff game when Palmer through a bomb to Henry, I am at the game and place is goig wild. I see out of the corner of my eye Palmer laying on the ground. Then to add insult to injury, Henry injured his knee on the same play.
Henry's issues seemed to be off the field, but maybe someone else remembers something I missed.
Henry's only problem was he was hooked on Marijuana and couldn't seem to quit smoking it.

Pickens got 3 years, I doubt Burton gets a shot in 2026 if he doesn’t turn the corner this season.
Brooks weigh is something to keep an eye on……
The problem, as I read this morning, is that the Bengals are the only team in the league that do not offer rookies on a waiver full injury protection. They only guarantee against catastrophic injuries. So if that's the case, I do not blame them for waiting until they are signed.

I know there is a lot of love for Chris on these boards but he is a case of someone who got a lot of chances and made bad decisions over and over. And Slim was relatively together compared to Burton. To me it feels like when not if Burton does something else destructive to his life, those around him, and this team.
Those are some serious rose colored glasses you are remembering Henry through.
Burton is a saint compared to Henry, albeit a saint with poor decision making...
In case anyone needs the refresher and Henry's issues, some cut and paste,
[*] December 2005: Arrested in Covington, Kentucky, for marijuana possession, his first arrest after being drafted.
[*] January 30, 2006: Arrested in Orlando, Florida, on multiple gun charges, including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm. He pleaded guilty and avoided jail time.
[*] April 29, 2006: Arrested in Covington, Kentucky, for providing alcohol to three underage females (ages 18, 16, and 15) at a hotel. An 18-year-old initially accused him of sexual assault, but she retracted her story and was charged with filing a false police report.
[*] June 3, 2006: Pulled over on Interstate 275 in Ohio for suspected drunk driving, with a blood-alcohol level of .092, just over Ohio’s legal limit of .08.
[*] October 6, 2006: Suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league’s substance abuse and personal conduct policies.
[*] January 25, 2007: Pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of a “keg law” (providing alcohol to minors) in Covington, Kentucky. Sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two days suspended.
[*] April 2007: Suspended by the NFL for the first eight games of the 2007 season for repeated violations of the personal conduct policy, with a warning that further issues could end his career.
[*] April 2008: Arrested in Cincinnati for misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging after allegedly punching an 18-year-old and breaking a car window with a beer bottle. The Bengals waived him but later re-signed him.
[*] December 16, 2009: Henry was involved in a domestic dispute with his fiancée, Loleini Tonga, in Charlotte, North Carolina. During the altercation, Henry was in the bed of a pickup truck driven by Tonga. As she drove away, he either fell or jumped from the vehicle, suffering severe head injuries. He was found on the road and pronounced dead the next day, December 17, 2009, at age 26. The incident was investigated by police, but Tonga was not charged, as it was deemed an accident. No alcohol or drugs were reported as factors in the incident.

Dang. You are 100% right, I had basically forgotten about all lot of that stuff. Either way though, it is a cautionary tale. And Burton does have at least one accusation of assault a year into his NFL career, even though no charges were filed.

The rooks that are 'sitting out' until fully signed are doing the right thing.
The Bengals on the other hand need to join the the other 31 teams to have full injury protections. Why they haven't, who knows why with this club.

It is a good thing our raw, talented, explosive 1st round pick is in camp and soaking up knowledge from a happy, content, and mentoring NFL sack leader.
I mean, that might help with the slow starts, yes?

Trey has really taken him under his wing and it’s paying off.
Stewart is already holding out like a veteran Pro Bowler.

There are plenty of teams with unsigned rookies going through the same situation, it's not a "Bengals specific" problem.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

So we aren't the only team that doesn't have injury protections for rookies? Trying to get this straight as I didn't know about any of this.

I heard Pat Kirwin specifically mention the Raiders not having their two top rookies at practice because they haven't signed their contracts, and he alluded toward "many teams" experiencing similar issues right now.

We are hardly unique in not having signed our top pick yet, or even the top 2. Knight is practicing, though.
Nor is a top DE in a contract dispute unique. But the broader issues do make it more troubling.
We wanted to get off to better starts. Our best defensive player (by a mile) is disgruntled, and not participating. Nor helping our raw #1 pick. And our dumbass FO/coach are antagonizing Hendrickson.
This sh!t should have been taken care of in January.

Never said it was. Just said they should join all the other teams in that regard.
