Notes From Training Camp 2025

I think that after waiting around for TJ Watt to get his big deal, the ship has passed for those sort of numbers. I think that at a minimum the Bengals are going to need to commit to a 2 year extension with a total value of around $90M. Give him $25M this year, fully guarantee 70% of the total package. Trey would be happy, the rest of the team would have renewed faith in the management's ability to keep it's strong core players content and with the team. And as for us fans? We just get to watch Trey do what he does best, crush opposing QBs in a Bengals uniform.

I agree competition but I don't think it means nothing, I rarely remember a mid rounder being put 1st team in first depth chart in a while

Sorry you think Brown, Mims and  Karras  is crap, as tou drifted from my original point, we have a much better offense then SB, that is not even close to a debate just fact.

To be fair, he specifically mentioned the interior OL, where you are naming the Tackles.

Bengals offense was top 10 last year...and whether it be Mims, Karras, Brown ..or their backups...the Ol most certainly contributed to that success..your are 1000% correct....

Joe had a film reading session with just Josh Newton and Maema Njongmeta.  This seems to be in addition to the session Al mentioned. Josh wanted help so he went to Joe and asked

Quote:“Man, look here. If you want to be great, you've got to approach the greats,” Newton said. “You can't tiptoe. That's how you get them to respect you.

“You don't just say 'Hey, Joe, can we watch some film? Nah. You say, 'Joe, can we watch film about this, and about that?' Be specific. Be direct. Because he doesn’t have time to waste.”

Love to see these young guys going the extra mile to get better

Josh "Fig" Newton is becoming a fan favorite for all the right reasons. Perhaps this just might be one of those underdogs that we all get behind that actually emerges as a complete player one day?

It’s been cool to see our defense taking advantage of having probably the most game smart QB in football and getting pointers from him.

Besides, last year in the joint practice with the Bears, they lost both Chris Evans and D'Ante Smith for the season

The Bengals are pretty much the only team in the NFL that operates the way they do offensively. The Defense needs more 9 on 7 drills with heavier packages to practice against. The Eagles would have shown them a ton of 12 and 13 personnel run packages like they will see while facing teams such as Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland.

Matt Lee was dinged up today and didn't practice which was why Patrick spent all of today at center and not any at guard. While they will continue to cross train him, Patrick is primarily seen as a RG

I like Orlando and Karras just fine. Mims is still fairly unproven, but I think he’ll be good at some point. The guards are clearly the giant question mark. And just declaring them “better than an all time bad OL” doesn’t mean much. I still see guard as one of the biggest weaknesses on the team along with the safeties.

Joe Burrow has resurrected the career of more than one tight end...why not Noah Fant's too

Interesting. He's a mediocre blocker at best but the Bengals don't even have that for 12p and no pure Y for 11p.

I thought he may be a good fit for JB. Let's see if they sign him.

Somehow TE coach James Casey gets everyone’s cast offs, free agents, and rookies and yet somehow produces a functional group. It would be interesting to see what would happen with Fant

I see this as changes they are making to start faster, correct me if im wrong but i believe we have had two straight years with other team practices and we struggled to get off to a good start last two years, so lets focus on us that is what ZT talked about..

The Bengals offense is built more like a 7on7 team heavy passing. They are pretty much the only offense that operates like that in thr NFL. The defense needs to see more reps vs heavier packages in 9on7 drills and in 11on11 because the rest of thr AFC North is specifically built that way.

I like that they are being more physical in camp but that's only 1 step. I would have loved to see them practice against thr Eagles in their heavy formation rush offense.
