Then we bring in Patrick who has not only been in more of a backup role but also struggled with injuries coming off an injury and everyone is fine penciling him in as the starter. Im not asking for them to go to the moon and back but maybe a bit more than just above the bare minimum.
So you wanted to give a roster spot to the worst starting OG in the NFL??????????????????
Sorry makes no sense and if he was the one they kept you would be screaming to the rooftops.
The Bengals have not darfted OL well for a long time, but it appears Mims may change that and Fairchild may as well. Many teams start mid round OL as rookies. As for Patrick, no I am not sold he will be great, but like I said it would be very hard to be worse than Cappa was in 2024 in both run and pass blocking.

Patrick had 562 snaps in 2024 and missed a few games. He had 953 in 2023. In his last 1642 passing snaps 4 sacks. He’s no backup. He’s played 2751 snaps the last 4 years. O-L guys get hurt look at our team. We have little exposure with him. I agree he was not as good as I hoped but he protects well.
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

He’s absolutely a backup. Starting caliber guards make more than $2.1M a year. You can throw out snap count numbers for a guy like Volson, too. Doesnt mean he’s starter quality either.

If you mean he’s not as good as you want or that we need then that’s different. But he’s a starter in the league even if he’s like Volson except he’s good at pass blocking as 4 sacks in over 1600 pass plays is good. Facts don’t lie

As a matter of fact, it's actually not what he said. Maybe go back and read it again and stop telling people how to interact until you can do it yourself?

Seems it was already cleared up. But no i wasn't suggesting keeping Cappa. I was asking why we are trying to beat the level of the play that got him cut rather than meat the level he was playing at when he was better.

I also don't get the sense that he's even healthy now. Struggled to make it thru some practices and he's supposed to start games?
I just dont think we did enough in that area. Hopefully it doesnt bite us and hopefully we get someone else in the building if health does become an issue.

The list of players with cramps in the first few days of camp is a mile long with 32 teams. He had cramps

I am asking the board members for you opinion on the following:
Is Trey able to be a Team captain? He says he wants to be.
But watching Hill mic'd up vs. Giants, there are a couple of instances where he acts the opposite of someone who could be a Team captain.
https://www.bengals.com/video/b-j-hill-mic-d-up-in-primetime-against-giants-sounds-of-the-game
In one occasion, Hill is sitting three players down from Trey on the bench calling his name, and Trey just ignores him. And Hill says "Ok"
There is another play where Trey gets a sack and Hill goes up to him to congratulate or acknowledge the sack, and Trey ignores him.
Fans never get a look into the dynamics of what goes on in an NFL Team, but these two instances gave me a perspective into Trey that is disappointing.
I was looking for tape on Hill because of Wilkins availability after Raiders cut him, but in this clip I got an impression of Trey that is disturbing.
What do you think?

I didn’t think anything of it. Some players are so focused they are in their own world on the field. And some get tired of players who never shut up. But I’ve always loved BJ. He’s great. Of course he knew he was mic’d up.

Again I wish we’d done more there. But Patrick is experienced which is important in the OL. He’s shown good pass blocking. He cost little.

Trey starting to pay MB and the Bengals to sit in Florida. Just edit a previous post, I did not see Trey gets 200K per game, so once game starts, he will lose 9.5 million versus the 9.3 I stated previously per game missed.
Mandtory camp missed = 98K
Day 1 TC = 50K (mandatory and can't be waived by team) Money also goes back into Bengals 2025 cap space
Day 2 TC = 50K (mandatory and can't be waived by team) Money also goes back into Bengals 2025 cap space
Day 3 TC = 50K (mandatory and can't be waived by team) Money also goes back into Bengals 2025 cap space

Im hoping for the best and at this point it is what it is. I do think or hope Patrick is better than Cappa was last year I just hope we didnt let his poor play lower our bar for what we expect out of the position. I also hope if he doesnt appear to be healthy going forward that we dont just rely on what we have and we get someone else in the building before the season starts.

I watched it and that's a big nothing Burger. I watched expecting to get a negative impression and to me he seemed good both instances Trey was distracted by other players or celebrating his sack. I think you might have looked into this a little too much.
Not sure what is the deciding factor on captaincy but I think Trey has earned it with his play if he wants it. But depending how long the contract stuff goes it may not work out that way anyway.

I'm calm. I just genuinely don't understand your point with the post. He either gets signed or he doesn't. If he does the fines are meaningless.
