Apparently he was spotted on a boat with some hoes in the Florida keys soaking up the sun. Investors? Could be you!

Trey starting to pay MB and the Bengals to sit in Florida. Just edit a prvious post, I did not see Trey gets 200K per game, so once game starts, he will lose 9.5 million versus the 9.3 I stated  previously per game missed.

Mandtory camp missed = 98K
Day 1 TC = 50K (mandatory and can't be waived by team) Money also goes back into Bengals 2025 cap space
Day 2 TC = 50K  (mandatory and can't be waived by team) Money also goes back into Bengals 2025 cap space
Day 3 TC = 50K  (mandatory and can't be waived by team) Money also goes back into Bengals 2025 cap space

Total - 248K

So it sounds like they have an agreement on the average annual value of the extension, but can't agree on the guaranteed money.

The gauranteed money is a pretty big hurdle.

I think Bengals need to do more in guarartees in year 2, but I don't agree any major signing bonus he gets which is 100% guaranteed should not be counted as a part of year 2 guarantee. If they give him a 25 million signing bonus, they are taking him at a minimum from zero guaranteed money in current contract to at least 41 million in guarantees plus he can earn 200K per game in 2025 currecnt contract, not guaranteed, but hopefully he earns as he stays healthy.

I am more optimistic after reading this knowing hey have agreed to the money portion.

It is, but for me the dollars he can earn is bigger. He wants to go from 16 million to 32 to 36 million a year, that is a huge number. I am not saying he is not deserving, just a huge number.

Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Guarantees to a player beyond the first year is really nothing more than security.

A team can offer and sign you to a contract, with no intention of paying you that in later years, i.e., not guaranteed. If you're a player, that's a bit disingenuous. The later guarantees just means you're going to see that money and the team isn't just going to cut you to save bucks.

That's asking a bit much. If there are any, they would have to be somewhat small(ish), if you're looking at it from a front office perspective. If you're 27, sure, guarantees in year 3. When you're 30...ehhhh, not so much.

I think every owner wants to win a SB.

I think he also has strong views that the Bengals are a small market team vs large market teams and align accordingly.

MB doesn’t have to worry about the bengals staying in the browns family. All he has to do to ensure that is simply not sell the team.

30 is the new 27 Big Grin

I think the Watt and Garrett deals are in his head.

To me it seems like a strategy to get 2 years guaranteed. It sounds better than 3 the Bengals should thinking. I think he deserves the Bengals to push theyre norm a bit. Guarantee 2 years and hope he takes it.

Guaranteed money is a funny animal when you're talking about a 30 year old player.

Is it? I am seeing a number of guys retiring each day. He is 33.
Mathieu 33 retired this week.
Pugh retired, 33 and last played in 2023 when he was 31

Yes there are always outliers amd maybe this small sample gone by age 33 is the outlier, but NFL is z brutal sport, for every Kelcie you seem to have 3 Hicks

As for Watt and Garrett, both have essentilly 4 year deals, not 3 years deals. Maybe Bengals should offer 3 year extension versus 2 year extension

I think Trey should get guaranteed a lot of oney in 2025 and 2026, then incentive based in 2027. Maybe some guaranteed in year 3, but not more than like 10 milion

i rather be moving forward than backwards, but i can see this as a hurdle, older player wants more guaranteed, Bengals leery on that one and i can see why

I think we're talking about a few million for year 3. It's semantics if Cincy guarantees 100% or 80% of year 2, either way he is here 2 years.  With a raise this year and siginig bonus, I can't imagine Cincy is guaranteeing much of a 3rd year. So, Trey's 3rd and final year is him getting say for example 10M (his camp) or 4M (Cincy) when he's cut.  They have far too many young players that will need signed..I know we keep saying this.
